since he is "smart", he usually has some memorable lines during games...the best one I can remember is:

"if the defender puts his hand in front of the ball, the receiver can't catch it"

priceless

Madden is one of the few guys who gets away with how he calls games. The problem is producers tell other commentators to call the game like him and it's painful to watch.

Like Dicky V, I went through a phase where I was sick of Madden. I like them both again, though.

Here's a famous Madden quote that I like and the Revs should post on the tunnel entering Gillette:

"The only yardstick for success our society has is being a champion. No one remembers anything else."

Here's one I like more:

"Don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon."

I don't dislike him...he knows and loves his football, his bus and his 6 legged turkeys, but he has some amazing quotes (like the ones you posted)

There's a couple he's had that I like, including "the road to Easy Street goes through the sewer." And "there's no point putting whipped cream on manure."

A funny article about him here (http://studiodave.blogspot.com/2005/10/maddening.html).

I got some of these normal ones from him from games I've seen or found on the web:
"Not only do you get a first down, but you get a whole new set of downs!"

"Now that is a sandwich. You take all that and put it between two pieces of bread."

"When you talk about a Mike Shanahan offense, you're usually talking about an offense."

"Well when you're playing good football, it's good football and if you don't have good football then you're not really playing good football"

"The team that scores more points than the other team usually wins."

Don't remember the exact quote, but he said something to the effect of:
"The key to that play was the way the reciver reached out and grabbed the ball. Without that the play would've gone no where." I found this quote elsewhere as well but the three instances I found, no one remember the exact.

"Not to disrespect Ben Roethlisburger, but I think Eli Manning in going to be the best of that bunch"

"Don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon."Good one! I remember that one as him talking about going for it on 4th down in the other team's terrirory. "Some times you have to be willing to take a risk. You gotta be willing to say, 'Never mind that the horse is blind, let's just hitch up the wagon and go.'"

It's along the same lines as the Scottish Formula I driver jacke Stewart with "The faster the car goooos aroooond th' track, the moooore lakely it is to win th' rrrace."
