If it's paramount one player performs to his best level in this game for us to win it....who would you say that player should be?

If Scholes plays well United plays well.

It has to be Scholes for me as well, followed closely by Ronaldo and Rio.

Scholes always plays well, my vote is for Rooney.

My first thought was Rooney but I voted for Carrick. We all know that Scholes is going to play well but in order to control midfield I think we need a top game from Carrick.

Not that it wouldn't hurt for Rooney to be back to his aggressive, passionate best, especially if Arsenal are forced to play leadfoot on the backline.

We need to have a good presence in the middle of the park, so Carrick closely followed by Scholes.

The thing is, for the most part everyone has been playing near the top of their game lately except for Rooney. So if we continue the way we're playing and Rooney can step it up and hit one or two of those shots that have been hitting the posts then we should dominate Le' Arse. If he plays the way he has been and the rest of the team plays the way they have been we should win but it won't be so comfortable.

Hence my vote went to Rooney.

Ronaldo. He can turn the game around in one moment of brilliance.

Rio for me. He can't have any slipups against the likes of Henry and Adebayor, even if Vidic might be there to clean up. Generally, Vidic cleans up his own messes better than Rio does.

Close second is Carrick. Third would probably be Larsson/Saha, whoever gets the start (assuming that Rooney starts as well). Whoever it is needs to take his chance/chances if we're going to win this one.

I'd be far, far, farrr more worried about Vidic than Rio in this game. I don't agree that Vidic cleans up after himself better than Rio, by a long shot. Once Vidic gets beat by pace - he's generally done. Spurs away and the recent Baros roasting attest to this. Rio is a proven commodity in these games and generally plays his very best when he's up against quality forwards - i.e no mental ******** ups.

Just felt what you said in the first paragraph wasn't accurate.

You may be right, but for the wrong reason. The game will be won in midfield and if Rooney is on it could open things up for Scholes and Carrick. As long as Rooney is a threat it may not matter if he actually scores. (Although, I would love to see him score.)

Also, welcome back.

Thanks...

I just feel if Rooney can get that scoring touch it will be a mental lift for him and the squad. Plus he needs to get that first touch on point. If you watch him lately it's not just his shooting that's off or unlucky, it's his first touch on the ball and his quick one touch passes that are off. Those are the things that will mess up the flow of a game and will be detrimental to us. Not to mention alot of those touches are coming from him playing a withdrawn role almost with Carrick and Scholes at times.

I voted Scholes, but I think sharp finishing could be just as important as midfield domination in this one. Arsenal's recent play has shown that they really don't need to dominate a game, they don't even need to be the better team, to get the 3 points. Look at Arsenal - Liverpool in the FA Cup. Liverpool were 'robbed' against the run of play.

It could easily happen, United pressing and pressing to get a goal, having clearly the better of the play, and an Arse counter-attack wins it. So my vote goes to Scholsey for obvious reasons but I think at least one of our biggest goal-getters must also be in top form: Saha/Larsson, Rooney or Ronaldo.

My vote goes to Scholes because he helps to make us tick. However, I'm not really in agreement with this poll. I don't think we need any one player to be at his abosolute best to win. We've been the best TEAM this season by a long long way. At various points in the season Ronaldo, Scholes, Giggs, Carrick, Saha, Solskjaer, and Evra have all played match winning games and I don't we've over-relied on one player at all this season. Ronaldo and Scholes have been our best players and have bailed us out with great performances a few more times than the otehrs but we our success can hardly be attributed to one or two players.

Yeah, but Rio needs to play well in the sense that he takes care of his own business and cleans up anybody else's mistakes. If Rio doesn't play well, we won't get a good result.
