Callum Davenport signs for a 2 mill fee and, according to his agent Lucas Neill has agreed terms and will sign, subject to a medical.

I can tell you that Davenport would never have been brought in by Pards, who thought him a thug. Lucifer is a player in the Dicks mould and takes either the man, the ball, or both.:)

A thug and a psycho? Sounds good to me!

Thought I would pop in and congratulate on signing our best Australian defender, great pick up for your club. Well done.

Who are we talking about here?

Neill hasn't signed officially yet and Davenport is English...

If Neill does sign then our defence will look like this:

Left Back
Konch
McCartney (also CB)

Center
Davenport
Ferdinand
Gabbidon
Collins
Dailly (I'm so good I can play anywhere)

Right Back
Paintsil
Mears
Dailly (I'm so good I can play anywhere)
Spector
Neill

Who said we are short of defenders? Despite what AC has said I think we will see one or two of them go soon.

Seems that Sparky wants to sign a replacement before he lets Neill go.

Neill is actually a Left or right back for Blackburn this season. He plays center back or sweeper under Hiddink for Australia.

Neill's a right back but, due to injuries, he's been playing at left back. Thus, Blackburn wanted to swap him for Stephen Warnock. Can't believe we're paying the poor man's Kevin Muscat that much money though!

Couldn't agree more. Rumour has it, Derby are sniffing around Mears for a loan deal til the end of the season.

So will your starting fullbacks be Neill and Spector?

I take it you are not much of a football fan comparing a player like Neill with Muscat. I really don't believe some people, Neill is 10 times the player Muscat ever was.
He also plays anywhere across the back four. He may prefer RB but hasn't played anything bar CB or sweeper for Australia for a while. Has also played LB for Blackburn this season.

The money is absolutely stupid though.

Neill will be a great signing if it goes through. His performances at the World Cup and in the lead up qualifiers were outstanding. Strong, a tough-tackler and good with the ball - just what we need.

I thought Pool was getting Lucas Neil - did that fall through?

He turned them down for West Ham....... so they say. I would too. What's the use of having a nice house and nice car, if they get broken into and stolen every other week?
Lucas hasn't signed yet, but his agent said he will, after the medical. Today maybe?

Just read that Hughes has blocked his transfer until he gets a replacement. He's in the Blackburn squad for Saturday.

I was being a little tongue-in-cheek, bearing in mind he's another filthy, moderately paced, Australian fullback who played for the Wackers. However, let's not go overboard, he's hardly ten times the player. He's massively overrated and massively dirty. He's the sort of player that makes me hate football. So, hopefully, Hughes digs his heels in and we look elsewhere.

Give them Paintsil or Mears; they don't see to be playing anyways.

THEY WANT A LEFT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's that simple. We can't swap them a right back when they want left back. That's like offering an Everton foil when what they really want is a Chris Woods sticker.

Also, I have no problems with Australians per se, just dirty ex-Millwall fullbacks. I like Stan Lazaridis. Actually, the more I think about it, the fewer Australian footballers I like. Is it something in their youth football that means their players are, at best, lazy showponies and, at worst, ultra-violent nutters?

Why do you come out with some of the crap that you post??????

You are right that Blackburn want a left back not a right back.
However you go onto speak about Australian football as though you
have some knowledge of football and Australian football. You obviously
don't, i still see you as some young kid who gets off on being a keyboard warrior.
In the last 20 odd years i have coached at top youth level for about 15 of
them here in Australia. Several of the players i was involved with play all over the world now. Scouts from every country tended games. Partly because the work ethic taught to Australian youngsters often surpassed what they were used to seeing in youth football. At youth level Australia is ranked very highly. I was fortunate enough to meet Gus Hiddink recently
and i know the present Australian national coach. Lucas Neill is rated by Hiddink very highly. So highly that he built his team for the world cup around
Lucas as his defensive lynchpin. Australia did very well and if you are going to tell me Lucas gave away the penalty that got Australia knocked out. TV replays showed it was yet another refereeing cock up. Lucas is hard and uncompremising and never knows when to give in. The way you describe him is as ridiculous as your knowledge of football seems limited.
