He basically took the Calderon story about how Beckham had no other options, is only in the US to be an actor and ran with it.
He offered no insight, said nothing funny or interesting.

all the time? That makes about as much sense as saying Rome secretly

It does make sense.
If you truly dislike Rome, why bother with him? Why watch him? Why listen to him? Why start threads about him?
I dislike the NFL. So I don't watch it. I don't discuss it. I don't read about it. I don't start threads about it.
The way Rome keeps popping up here, you'd think he was the guy MLS just signed.

Jim Rome misrepresenting the facts? I'm shocked. actually though, i've been listening to the guy for 13 years ... and this was about as egregious as it gets with him.
he essentially insinuated that Beckham couldn't get a game with ANY OTHER CLUB TEAM IN THE WORLD. when in fact, DB had suitors all over Europe AND the middle east AND asia. hell, even REAL MADRID offered him a contract.
i actually like Rome, and it doesn't bother me when he rips soccer. but this was bad in his blatant disregard of the facts. i know i always poo-poo this, but someone really needs to write him an email setting him straight. he was REALLY loose with the facts on that particular rant, and he never does that (to that degree).
take it from someone that has listened to Rome since 1995. he is REALLY getting desparate with all this Beckham stuff. remember, he lives in LA, so he has to hear about Beckham every single night. it is clearly driving him bat shit.
