so here it is ... the 'final' versions of the logo, one without hair and the other with (in the ben franklin style).
please vote for which you would like the Sons of Ben (http://www.sonsofben.com) to use (or provide feedback on how the with-hair one can be improved).

I like the hair too. In fact I would hint the hair a little farther around the the crown of the head.

The hair looks good on the back and sides and thats how Ben Franklin looked. Besides its not like it gets in the way of anything else on the emblem. Lets have the do.

You need the Hair to give it the look of Ben. The kite would look good with a tail made of soccer balls(just a suggestion)

now that you mention it, there isn't anything on here that denotes it's soccer related ... should there be?

I would say yes to having something soccer related on there. Otherwise, with the oar, people may think we're the new kids moving onto boathouse row.

I do like the hair, but I voted to keep the Jolly Ben bald...
I'm not sure why. Looks more menacing to me, I suppose.

If we wanted menacing, we could just place a enraged Jeremiah Trotter picture up there.

Are you really going to call the supporters group "Sons of Ben"? I'm sorry but that's just bad on any number of levels.
1. It excludes potential daughters of Ben.
2. It comes off sounding like little boys in a treehouse
3. DC United supporters will likely photoshop pictures and the product "Ben Gay"
4. It doesn't exactly roll off the tounge like Barra Brava, Riot Squad, or El Batallon.
5. Ben wasn't a very 'threatening' figure. Pairing him up a skull and crossbones looks mickey mouse and cartoonish.
Please don't take that the wrong way, i want to see you guys do well, the more large supporters groups the better for the league, i just think you'll be off to a bad start with that name and another group will likely form to surpass it with a cooler name.

Jade, your late to this. We've already banboozled such problems with the name and decided to boldy go forward, with no looking back.
Plus Bryan's already spent money on the website.

1. Nah, I think the ladies won't mind all that much. Some might feel a little excluded, but I'll buy them a beer to warm 'em up. We might even let them ring our bell
2. Well, as of right now, we can't even get an investor to build us one of those.
3. Not too concerned about DCU fans taunting us yet. Besides, I am a DCU fan... They'll probably just use the pictures that exist of me in DCU garb.
4. "Texian Army" doesn't really roll of the tounge. Nor "The Loyalists", or "Red Patch Boys", or "Empire Supporters Club". Not too concerned about this.
5. Ben Franklin was awesome. We're trying to honor him (In our own way).

boldly forward then.. oh well, you can always change it later i guess.
I liked The Bell Ringers, As in ringing the liberty bell. You could even chant "Ring the bell, schools back in! Perish thoughts, that YOU can WIN!"
A big group with hand bells and drum sticks would be unique in MLS. t
Chivas has blow horns
DC United has drums
Philly would have bells.
:)
One drawback, it would bring to mind this crazy Pompey supporter, John Westwood:

If Bell Ringers was your best alternate, thank goodness we went with Sons of Ben or SOBs as we proudly call it.
Thanks

Plus, in the first 20 people to sign up on www.sonsofben.com, 3 have been female. And a lot are folks that I haven't seen post on here. So figuring each member brings one friend/spouse that's 40 tickets with no advertising.

Hey Dill0n, about the Jolly Franklin with Hair... Could the hair extend around the back, too? That is, so you could see it in the triangle of space between the skulls cheek and the oar/sickle handle? It doesn't seem quite right..

i can definitely see what it'll look like. perhaps that's why i'm not digging it as much as the without-hair version. i kind of figured the bone-handles made for a good place to 'terminate' the hair, but maybe it'll work better using your suggestion.
thanks for the input, steve.
