I was wondering what games Sunsil has before and after Copa America. I am talking after the Gold Cup games, we have enough depth to test all the european base players and under 20 kids, or any new MLS stars.
We should play games against Argentina, Brazil, Columbia and Venezuela ( in Venezuela ). before the Copa.
After the Copa, We should get some games abroad with Euros. Doesn't matter who it is, we need players to feel hate towards american, fans preassuring their teams, fireworks and chanting etc...

So far on our upcoming schedule we have Denmark , Mexico , Ecuador , Guatemala. All but the Denmark game are on FIFA dates , but in the US , so calling in the Euros might not happen.
Then we have the Gold Cup , which ends two days before the Copa begins, IIRC.

Playing Turkey or Greece would be as hostile as it gets.

But we don't no games plan after Copa America. Which worries me. MLS season has too much of a long break, with inactivity the players lose it a bit. We should get games at two games in summer, 4 friendly games during fall and winter.

We seem to average about 14-16 matches per year, of which about half or more are with tournaments. As such, having five friendlies before and two competitions would put us at about par for preceding years. In fact, in 2003, the Gold Cup was our last competition of the year... the following year the last friendly took place on July 11... the following year May 28th (correction: one more on Nov. 12)... and the following year (last year) on June 22.
We have two tournaments which will span a couple months and CCC before and Superliga afterward. Friendlies would be nice, but it's not uncommon to not have any after the summer ends.
Just a thought.

Just because matches after the Copa haven't been announced or rumored, doesn't mean we won't have any. Hell, most of the world doesn't have that much scheduled, except the Euorpean countries that have Euro 2008 qualifiers.
I have a feeling that we will see maybe about two or three more matches after the Copa.

Why would we play these teams before? We are going to see one of them no matter what.

Maybe its a good idea to hold off until Feb 7th or so... that's the day the draw for Copa America comes out. I'm sure that once we have a good sense of who we are playing, it might make it easier for us to figure out who some good preparatory matchups might be...

i believe there will be 3 groups of 4, meaning there will be 2 3rd place teams advancing to the elimination phase...
you really gotta stink NOT to advance...
i do think u-23s plus mls guys should advance, even as 3rd placers

Copa is full B and C teams. Mexico is only team send A team to Copa. We should test out the under 23 some euro players. Like: Smith, Feilhaber, Bradley, Davies, Zimmerman, Ferarri, Westberg, DJ Countess, DeMerrit, Simek etc....
Trust me, few teams have depth and quality. Only Brazil, Argentina, Columbia and Uruguay to worry about.

bradley ahs an interesting choice, if he goes with the top level euros for gold cup...
does he want donovan at gold cup, or does donovan get targeted for copa america...
i'd hope the usmnt starters from mls do gold cup, this means donovan and mastroeni...
then for copa america, take the u-23's and add in the about 8-10 mls guys for venezuela...some of the mls guys are u-23's anyway, like mapp

Copa will be a big showcase and a valuable chance to gain soccer a little more exposure/support stateside... i'd like for us to send our best team there. in any event, one of our biggest problems for the usmnt is the inability (for even our A side) to get results in hostile environments. Lets send our best team out there and utilize a pretty cool opportunity...
