What are Fulham's long term goals right now? Stay afloat in the Premiership? Make a run at UEFA? Is the status quo the best that Fulham can hope for?

I'd wager that finishing in a safe, mid-table position is the goal for this season as the team goes through something of a transformation.

You're seeing Chris Coleman's managerial personality really start to stick out, and he's bringing in more of the type of players, ability and personality wise, that he feels fit into his system, while also dealing with a massive injury crisis.

Anyone and everyone that doesn't have "100% commitment" to the team is set to be offloaded ASAP, or stuck to the bench.

Malbranque, Boa Morte, perhaps Collins John... I'd have to say that safe mid-table while MAYBE pushing for UEFA Cup was maybe the goal going into the season... but, a nice, safe spot several points up from the drop seems right about now.

I also think Cookie has a good, deep FA Cup run in mind too. Fulham are in position to do that now - we're 4-deep at foward, adding depth to the midfield, and have 2 1/2 (not sure how healthy Pearce really is) CBs and we have Volz - who can play anywhere !

What do you guys think is a realistic goal for next season?

If we keep the core of players we have now, with Bullard coming back, maybe get the rest of our team healthy enough to play, I say between 5th-10th. top/mid table. Maybe fight our way into UEFA.

We HAVE to get better on the road though . . .

This was right around what I was expecting. Anything less than top half would be a disappointment.

I'd like to be in at least the Intertoto.

I don't know if Europe is THAT realistic next season... UNLESS we get a significantly improved backline.

Surrendering 3+ goals in back-to-back games against a lower division outfit and a squad that has been diffuse of offense all season is a no-no.

Even when Zat is healthy, it's not THAT much of an upgrade. Capturing Onyewu would/would have been sweet... bringing in someone to shore up the defense is a must ASAP.

In the short term they really need to bring in Oguchi Oneywu. Then they'll at least have a shot of beating some of the more bad ass Premierships teams and start dreaming of the UEFA Cup.

How quickly things have changed since my last post in this thread.
