Yes, and a small club like Arsenal has those "true fans", to bad a game at the Emirates can easily be mistaken as a silent movie.
You do realise Arsenal is a bigger club than Chelsea, right?

:)
official stats say we had the 4th loudest stadium in the prem this year...meanwhile chelsea came 13th.......sure we attracted alot of new plastic fans recently.alot that dont know shit about the north and west bank chants, but then, atleast they are fans. people that attend the games. Chavski can't even sell out a european semi final
and dont even get me started on away support, you have none
and if u feel like comparin ''the real fans'' as oppose tothe plastics we can do that too . we can take it to back when arsenal didnt play pretty and chelsea didnt have a sugar daddy
arsenal never averaged a pathetic 20,000 attendance. says it all. case closed
Matt.

I'm a diehard San Antonio Spurs fan so I naturally gravitated toward the slightly hotter Spurs. That's as good a reason as you'll ever get. :)

What sucks for us new soccer fans is that if we pick Man United we're labeled as bandwagon fans, but i just started watching soccer, MLS and i don't know much about the teams. I watched the final and cheered for Man U cause I knew who they were. USA Fans are always labled bandwagon fans anyway

Lol, because most are... most fans are, period, regardless of nationality.
However, I can't say that I've ever been called one. I doubt that any of the US fans of teams other than the big four have been called such as well, unless they became Fullham fans because of Fullhamerica, but that's a different kind of bandwagoning.

Ya I wanna start watching Premier League but I don't really know the teams. I do love soccer. I've been playing since 3rd grade, and i'm just now getting really into it. I just wanna be taken seriously as a fan of team "x" whoever they may be lol. One thing I do, once i choose a team. I stick with them win or lose. Thats my team!

For me, it's a 100 times more fun and more engaging to have a team to follow, week in week out, regardless of wins, losses or draws. That's just me, however; you're obviously greatly enjoying watching the football without a chosen team, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Or do both. Cheer on your chosen team, agonize the losses, celebrate the wins.
And when they're not playing (or on TV), just watch what you can and enjoy.
Works for me...

Isn't it great being American? We grow up in such a crowded sports environment, so there's always a season going on. Whether it's hockey, baseball, NFL, NBA, MLS, NCAA...it's wonderful.
Add in the Prem which has completely taken over my life for years now, and it's just wonderful.
This thread is ridiculously long now and I'm a bit late on this, but my answer would be that the team you end up supporting will kind of find you instead of the other way around. Once it finds you, go all the way with it. Don't be plastic. Get involved. It's so much more of an emotional rollercoaster if you do. That's what sport should be about.
This season needs to get here already.

While in England, it's always football season. :D Between the Community Shield in early August through the FA Cup Final in late May, there's 10 months taken care of. Then you throw in Euro and World Cup every other summer there's an 11th month. And the 12th is full of teams' friendlies preparing for the upcoming season. Good times. :)

Ah! That's so true. Of course it's the same for us as well. All the South American football that we can shake a stick at.
I'm just pointing out that there are so many big team sports in the US. When I get to England someday (hopefully at the Bridge in December), I want to catch some rugby somewhere.

Well when your faced with such a challenge, which team should I support? Its a tough one....but when you think of the teams with such history and emotion when their playing football, that for me won me over when i chose Liverpool....im 22 years old and have been supporting them since I was around 10 yrs old! They are the one team that make you almost cry when you watch them in finals....they play attractive and possesive football! And with players like Gerrard in the squad....you cant go wrong! Or...you can be money hungry and choose Chelsea! Up to you...have fun!!
