West Ham. Best looking kit. Best nickname. Curbs doesnt look like Elvis Costello. Dont come from Birmingham (the armpit of the universe). Won the world cup.

:p You have never been to Chester obviously.

Hey guys, not sure which team to support. I've been a football fan, I'm not just jumping in, but I was raised as a Boca Juniors fan, and became a Columbus Crew fan later in my life. I've always loosely paid attention to the EPL, but I've never really had a team I've rooted for, so I'm looking to adopt a team. Suggestions?

I'm looking for a team that fits the mold of the other teams I root for (OSU college, Boca, etc.): rich tradition, incredibly supportive fanbase, locked in a heated rivalry, and almost always a top tier team, though they aren't a dominant team in the league.

Could be a description of Liverpool.

Well, I'm not gonna say I've followed the Premier League extremely close, but I do keep tabs on things from time to time. I've been a Barca fan since I started watching soccer 2 or 3 years ago, but I'd like to adopt a Premier League club as another favorite team.

I need a team with rabid fan support, an attacking style of futbol, a team that's extremely close to it's community, a team that will win something in my lifetime, and some Americans on the team.

Everton has Tim Howard...they are a very fine team to support.

Fulham has a bunch of yanks, but they are not going to win anything at the moment.

Though winning isnt everything in which team you want to follow - its about how you identify with the team through the ups and downs.

You've just described West Ham United. Seeing as we're playing the Crew on July 20th you should come along and check us out:)

He's just described over half the premiership if you ask me.

We don't have any Americans right now, but we fit the rest. But you'll find most of the things you're looking for with other premiership teams as well. I suggest, what others in this thread have several times, start watching matches and eventually you'll start identifying with one team or another. It will probably help to take a few minutes to look at the histories of teams you're interested in as well.

As sick as I am for saying this, I think that Liverpool would be the right club for you. I wouldn't suggest going to their games though unless your prepared to get beat up.
Just kidding, I've never been there myself but they have a reputation both good and bad but I'll give them credit they have extremely devoted fans and they hate Man United and Everton. They used to win but they haven't won anything recently. Usually finish right outside of the big three.

Most teams have 'rabid fan support'. Not many teams play truly attacking soccer in the EPL though it can be at times. No team is very close to it's community anymore but as a foreign supporter I don't think this will affect you much. Not many teams will win something in your lifetime. No teams that win have Americans on the team.

I'd suggest Arsenal if you want an attacking team that has a shot at ever winning. They don't have an American, but they have a lot of American fans.

Wow. I can't believe I just told a couple of people to support Liverpool and Arsenal.

Well I've always been an Italian fan first and foremost, and over the last couple of years I have been kind of harsh on my views of the EPL, but I decided to give it another honest shot. I am going to try and follow Tottenham this season, as I love their kits and their history, and I also have an affinity for their fans and a few of their current squad. We'll see how the feelings for them (and the league in general) go this year.

That's most likely BS, and if it isn't, so what? They're not him, and they disowned him long ago. That's just stupid, sensationalist reporting.

I did say OVER half, did I not? It really depends on what he means by "top-tier" and "dominant".

Yes, and a small club like Arsenal has those "true fans", to bad a game at the Emirates can easily be mistaken as a silent movie.
