Arsenal

Can there be passion if there is no struggle?
Can there be rapture if there is no pain?
Arsenal is nought but a painted strumpet
Easy to love, if love is but gain.
Love exists not in such heavenly realms
But in the mire where love fends for itself
When love loves without hope
And gives without gain
And the name of the team is worth more than a game

Thank you, Shakespeare :)

Go with Spurs. You can't go wrong, or right.

i would go with arsenal. after losing henry, arsene wenger built a team that can run for years in the top. fabregas and co looks strong, they are running and having fun. it's gone be hard stopping them.

By now you have probably decided who to support but for me it would be the team closest to my home, at least you may get to see them live. If you are not close to a team then any of the top 4 over the last few seasons, Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea Man Utd. at least you know your going to see plenty of them on tv.

My dilemma is between bitter rivals - Tottenham and Arsenal. I initially gravitated towards Spurs because I identify with their history - high expectations, high-caliber players, little to no results. My favorite sports team is the St. Louis Blues, so we definitely have a kinship in terms of disappointment. I also enjoy watching Lennon run around. Superficially, I have heard good things about the fan support, and they certainly have my favorite colors.

The problem is that I grew up in Columbia, MO, home to Stan Kroenke, who, as you probably know, owns 12% of Arsenal. My brother played soccer with his son, Josh. They have a roster full of superstars and are consistently towards the top of the table. Emirates stadium is probably a sight to behold as well. They probably are as "local" as I can get (with the connection to ownership).

I love both styles of play, but I have to choose one. I can't truly support bitter rivals. That would be like being an Ohio St. - Michigan fan, or MU-KU, or Red Sox - Yankees. I love rivalries. I really don't want to be seen as a glory-hunter. It seems as though Arsenal is the club-du-jour amongst my friends, simply because they're good now. I've also heard about "library" conditions at Gunner home games. That concerns me too.

I'm not suggesting you tell me who to support. I just want to get my frustrations out here.

I know you don't want suggestions, but I'm going to give you some.

1. If your friends support Arsenal, support Tottenham, because its always fun to support a team your friends hate trust me I know I'm a Yankee fan.

2. Though I'm a Chelsea supporter, and we're suppost to hate both of these clubs, I honestly like Tottenham. I connect with the whole 'yid army' thing being half-Jewish and I also share their hatred of Arsenal. So my suggestion would be Tottenham.

3. All in all, I'd have to kill you virtually if you start supporting Le Arse, so go support Spurs, you hockey-loving freak!

You pretty much mirrored my line of thinking. Except for the being killed part.

There's certainly something to be said about supporting the arch-rivals of your friends. Seriously, Arse? Goon? The jokes practically write themselves. Plus, after watching the highlights from the 5-1 shellacking Arsenal took at White Hart Lane, I really would like to be a part of that in the future.

This (http://www.stage6.com/user/oomeman/video/2119456/Tottenham-Vs-Arsenal) certainly helped make the decision. Plus, no commentary to get in the way of the crowd. I appreciate the comments.

Seriously though, I don't like Spurs but they are quite an interesting team to support I'm sure.

Go for Stoke City, they'll be up next year. Well, at least I think they will and they may just manage to stay up. They'll be our surrogate Sunderland if we squint a bit. They've got history and they actually played a season in the US. Not kidding.

Really though. I'm of the "you don't pick the team, the team picks you" mindset.

If you ask me why I support Newcastle... I've always supported them, I just never knew it until I started watching the premiership. I can't wait to make it to St. James to see a match someday.

It's a rollercoaster ride I'll tell ya, no more no less.

Must be pretty boring to support Celtic though. Until this year, you had no competition in the SPL. I guess Rangers dethroning you at the moment must have woken you up. :p

Sorry about your tought loss to Barca in the first leg. To score two goals at home and still lose has gotta be rough enough, much less surrendering three away goals in the process. I hope Celtic can somehow knock 'em out in Spain, though.

Its not that boring. Its far easier to remain interested when you're leading the league with teams visiting that know if they win they'll be worshiped by their fans for taking us down.

I would imagine being a Spurs fan is much less fun. No realistic chance of the title and your seasons usually dead long before Christmas, with only position to play for.

Rangers will be put in their place before long, I assure you of that much. As for Barca, it was disappointing, the defence was not good enough. We're out now.

Well, as they say: To be a Spurs fan is to be a masochist.

I doubt anyone's actually said that, but you catch my drift surely.

Good luck catching up to the Gers.

its quite simple

u want the best its:
Chelsea
Man utd
Arse
Pool

then there are the almost best:
Everton
Aston villa
Man city
Portsmouth
Westham
Tottenham

the rest are useless nowadays

i support chelsea, and started to before we were bought by a russian mega-gangster

i started becaise of one player: Gianfranco Zola, the only italian who became someone in england

a player who never dives (NEVER), had a heart of gold and loved the game

my suggestion is u pick your fav player, like from the world cup or somehting, and follow the team he plays for

Couldn't have said it better. It was the players I saw at the world cup that made me a Chelsea supporter as well. The only thing I disagree with is your placement of Liverscum as one of 'the best'. They're probably in the 'almost' category these days.

Lol you're probably just bitter about us buying your best player to warm our bench for us.
