Although I have no idea why anyone would want to support an english team.

Then perhaps you shouldn't be posting in a thread on the EPL board specifically asking for advice on which team to support?

Maybe you could set up your own thread on the Rythwwellllllynfenthynalbghlycth... sorry, Welsh board so you don't have to waste your time with people you don't understand?

Of that lot, Norwich has the most character. Become a canary.

Why would u support celtic then..... when they can only finish 1st or 2nd....... theres no enjoyment in a club comp that offers that LEVEL of opposition??????????

Its not as bad as people think.

We enjoy arguably the most fierce rivalry in world football.

We get European football every year.

Every team we play is desperate to beat them because to do so is to claim a massive scalp. We can not afford to lose or draw anything, because our two-team league means its incredibly difficult to recover lost points.

Its tense, its tight and its passionate. Every single game is a must win.

I can't believe how many posts have been about whether someone liked the teams kits. Does that sound girly to anyone else? "Well I would cheer for Chelsea this season, but their new yellow shirt just is not in fashion this year."

First off other rivalries can be rated with the Old Firm. River Plate v Boca Barca v Madrid and Rome Derby for sure. Also I understand you saying the other clubs always want to claim a scalp when playing gers or Celtic but the likes of Motherwell, Falkirk, Aberdeen ect.. are like Arsenal or Chelsea playing Derby Fulham and championship sides each week. Scottish football is some of the least competetive in Europe.

The answer to what team you should support is simple and generally always the same, your local team. If you don't have a local professional football team, then it is acceptable to pick the closest pro team to you. I can't stand glory supporters who shun their local team in favour of supporting one of the big four teams a hundred miles away. In England the team picks you, e.g if you are born into a town with a professional football club, then you should support that team, no questions asked, doesn't matter whether they are top of the football league or bottom of it, however if your parents came from a different town and supporting that other towns team is in your family then you should probably support that team. However if you were born in Southend and your uncle used to live in Manchester this is not an acceptable excuse to support Manchester United.

Ah but the problem was set by a zealous virgin Yank. Are you really saying that all Americans should be Liverpool supporters? What have either party done to desreve that?

So under this circumstance I would not even watch football, since my mother isn't a fan. And my local team would be the University team that is D-III.

MLS season runs during the summer and while most European leagues run through the winter period. Add to that the fact they the two could only possibly meet under competitive circumstances in the World Club Cup, I see no reason why you can't have a favorite team in both.
