Guyana loses 1-0 to Barbados in Digicel Caribbean Cup warm-up match
Wednesday, January 10th 2007
Guyana's national football team preparing for the Digicel Cup finals which begins on Friday lost 0-1 to Barbados in a friendly encounter in Trinidad yesterday.
According to reports, the game ended prematurely after a Barbadian player was injured. Barbados were leading 1-0 at the time of the stoppage. Guyana coach, Jamal Shabazz, said after the match :"I think the game was going good, they had a penalty and it was unfortunate what happened.

Haiti pile on Digicel Cup misery for Bermuda Football team
Bermuda 0 Haiti 3
(Haiti win 5-0 on aggregate)Bermuda’s Digicel Cup campaign came to a grinding halt at the Ato Bolden Stadium last night after they were convincingly beaten once again by Haiti.
Needing to win by at least two goals to have any chance of advancing to next week’s finals, Kyle Lightbourne’s men simply had no answer to a well-drilled Haitian outfit who were superior to their opponents in every single facet of the game.
Goals either side of two scrappy halves from Cadet Eliphene (2) and Boucicaut Alexandre were enough to give Haiti safe passage through to face Martinique, Barbados and Trinidad next week, as Bermuda’s defensive frailty, lack of pace and limited preparation were cruelly exposed once again.
“Haiti were the better side over the two legs – we’ve got absolutely no excuses,” a philosophical Lightbourne said afterwards.
“I thought we played a little better today than we did on Sunday but Haiti were a strong and disciplined side.

I'll say Haiti wins it. I have a feeling St. Vincent may be a surprise....but that's just on a feeling.

i'd like to see Haiti and Cuba in the final but anything can happen
The soca warriors are going to be without many of their stars, in fact i heard most of the squad are local based and college kids.

not only that, San juan Jabloteh pulled 12 players originally selected to the national squad due to the CCC games which are a week after the end of this tornament. Eventually 2 of these players were reinstated but that still means that this team is very green with 10 players getting their first call up.
The only player from the World Cup side is Theobold and he has an ankle injury so may not start.
Having said that, I still have confidence in this team and now is the time for the younger ones to shine.
T&T to win the cup at home like we always do :D
here's the squad:
Goalkeepers:
Jan Michael Williams (W Connection), Marvin Phillips (Starworld Strikers).
Defenders:
Nicholson Thomas (W Connection), Seon Power (Joe Public), Makan Hislop (University of South Carolina), Nigel Daniel (San Juan Jabloteh), Anthony Noreiga (unattached), Dwayne Jack (Tobago United), Osei Telesford (Liberty University).
Midfielders:
Kwame Wiltshire (Tobago United), Densill Theobald (Caledonia AIA), Hayden Tinto (Caledonia AIA), Kerwyn Jemmott (Superstar Rangers), Leslie Fitzpatrick (unattached), Keeron Benito (University of Tampa), Kerry Baptiste (San Juan Jabloteh).
Forwards:
Gary Glasgow (Joe Public), Darryl Roberts (Liberty University), Abiola Clarence (University of Incarnate Word), Christian Baptiste (Defence Force), Joel Bailey (Monreal Impact), Scott Sealy (Kansas City Wizards).

What's up with Leslie Fitzpatrick and Anthony Noreiga? How is that the national team has 2 players on their roster that are currently without clubs to play for?

Noreiga was rescently released by a USL team I think it miight have been the whitecaps not too sure. I think he is in the process of attaining a new contract possibly with a pro league side. As for Tiger he most rescently played a couple of exibition games for the USL team Puerto Rico Islanders in the CCC after being realeased by Real Salt Lake he also may return to the USL soon as of right now however both players are unattached.

I must admit I really don't care who wins. I just want to see either St. Vincent or Guyana qualify to the Gold Cup (or both!). So all they have to do is finish top 2 in their group, after that it doesn't matter.
Does anyone have radio links for the group stage though?
This is where not having Jamaica in the tournament anymore sucks; their radio station covers every national team game, so www.go-jamaica.com/power would be easy to follow the tournament on, but I'm guessing since they aren't playing, the station isn't covering it. :(

I agree with you. My favourite teams are:
Haiti in group A and St. Vicent and the Grenadines and Guyana in group B. I hope that Haiti plays final against one of this two teams. It´s too dificult that my three favourite teams qualify to Gold Cup. Haiti can pass round, but only one of other two teams in group B can qualify.
I will follow this tournament on my blog, with results and articles:
