Okay, it's pissing me off because I'm frantically searching for the link, and I cannot find it.

BUT, I did read that the WUSA relaunch, still set for 2008, includes St. Louis as one of the proposed 10 teams.

The article which I read stated that WSII (the group attempting to relaunch WUSA) has commitments for 3 or 4 franchises by owners, and there WILL be some MLS owners involved in WUSA, too.

My best guess is that, until an MLS team lands in St. Louis/Collinsville with a stadium, this women's club will probably play at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park or even SLU's Hermann Stadium.

EDIT: FOUND IT!

I also just realized...

Including a WUSA team in STL could REALLY help Jeff Coopers cause in bringing an MLS franchise.

I think SLU's place would be just about the right size for WUSA.

If Chicago gets a team, too, that's a nice rivalry.

I hope that a WUSA would be incorporated with the MLS team similar to what some for English Premier League clubs do with their ladies teams. The idea would be anything pro soccer or "high level" soccer will be all under the same umbrella of for example St Louis United (I just picked a name, doesn't sound half bad though). Also this would help to set up the Academy, youth team set up where by both girls and boys youths teams can directly identify with the first teams.

Hopefully whereever, whenever, and whoever gets this going is able to "unite" all the soccer parties in the area!

I wonder if one of the current WPSL(Womens Professional Soccer League (http://www.wpsl.info/index.php)) teams based here will become the WUSA franchise? Jeff Cooper is already the General Mangager of one of them, Rivercities F.C. (http://www.wpsl.info/rivercities/), so that seems the logical choice. They played in the league championship final last summer and their home games were played at CBC High School's stadium in Town and Country.

Agreed on both accounts.

Wow. I had no idea Cooper was already involved in STL soccer like that. I checked out the website. Lindsey Kennedy (the former female player for the Steamers) is a rostered player, of coach or something.
