AFP

This is an amazing coincidence. My kid sister used to go to school in Mainz - its a very small city near Frankfurt with a famous and large university (which populates and employees a lot of folks in the area). Classic european town square with cute shops, bakeries, etc. Very laid back and probably a nice place for Elkin to settle and focus on his footie.

Mainz just recently ascended into the Bundesliga, I think they were second or third division even when I visited the city back in the winter of 01-02. They have a relatively small stadium. Its interesting that he signed a multi-year contract with them, they don't have a lot of resources and he will have to do his darndest to keep them up.

Will try to get more stuff from German press on this.

trivia fact: I believe the printing press was created in Mainz by Guttenberg.

2nd divison of germany > ecuador

its not the fact taht he is here and in this team ... if he starts to play well, he can always go to a better team in that league or in europe... this can also open the doors to colombians to play in germany. Its like David Ferriera has opened them in brasil. Hope he can ajust to germany and he and mosquera do well there.

the translator for me doesnt work it says that their is no file when I ask it to translate the soto thing...

as for Rincon that is true but before Ferriera went and did well how many colombians were in Brasil???

Ferriera refers players to his team and got Sergio Herrea in even tho he was unused and now Daryo Moreno is in it, Renteria and Vargas are at Inter and Viafara, Valencia are being looked at by ferrieras team...

hopefully soto can open some doors in germany for us even tho I prefer the french, spanish or itlaian league for our players

Aristi, Asprilla, Munoz, to name a few, were there before Ferreira. I don't like what's happening to Wason in Brazil. He's going to be a wasted player if he doesn't get time on the pitch.

I wanted Soto in Spain, only because he's so damn shy that I can see him be miserable in some little apt., not speaking the language and intimidated by his surrounding. I wish him the best...you are right, even 2nd Div germany is better then Ecuador.

"I found one article about Elkin Soto in the Newspaper- it mainly says that Jürgen Klopp os hoping that the acquisition will help them stay in the Bundesliga, and that they believe Soto to be "torgefährlich" which means that he will potentially score a lot of goals."

What are Caldas doing? He is a terrific footballer and they seem terribly bad at closing a deal.
