I know it is an espn link, but there are some direct quotes from sanchez himself.

"Giovanni y Carlos Vela estarán en el campeonato mundial sub20 y esperar su proceso para ir a la selección mayor, como Patricio Araujo u Omar Esparza. Un Mundial es más importante que los Panamericanos, la Copa América o la Copa de Oro"

This is really no surprise. There was no way Hugo was going to torpedo Ramirez' team. The youngsters are better off playing a high-pressure tournament in which the expectation for success is strong. Let's see what they are made of before we bring out the "anointing oil."

they cant hang with bofo, bravo or medina anyways.

I expect Cuauh to get some appearances also.

I don't know. I don't have much to go off, but I would say that Gio is better than Medina and Vela is better than Bravo.

As of now I can't be vindicated, but I'm pretty sure about this.

Time will tell.

Good Decision. Vela and Gio are the key players for the U-20 squad. They need them more than what the Senior squad does.

I agree with that sentiment, but for Chiqiu to say they can't hang with Medina and Bravo sounds ridiculous to me.

all im saying is who has more senior appearances? The replacing hasnt happened yet. They are still u20, 2nd division, etc. Now once Gio make steady progress on Barca senior team and vela gets a call up and looks better than bravo, their take over will be complete.

sounds ridiculous? they are not 1st division players yet. They are not use to the speed, the physicality, and the tempo of 1st division.

Thye do not need to ruin them nor lower their morale. In due time--they are still young

Well Gio played first team with Barca in thier littler tour over here. He looked pretty good against Tigres. (I think it was Tigres)

Vela is not far from first division. Spain's second division is better then ours.

I don't disagree that the priority should be for them to play in the U-20, but I think they can hang with the senior squad. That's all I'm saying.

all at its time!! preparation is the key! the U-20 its a good big next step for them! after comes the First division! and so! they probably could hang with the seniors but why put such weight on their backs? Giovanni's tours with the first team is called preparation!

Dam that sucks, Vela and Dos Santos would of done great in the Copa Oro or Copa America, the experience would of helped them out a lot!

They're still too young and need to mature. I must admit, I would have loved to see them in the Gold Cup or even Copa America, but Hugo is right. A World Cup IS more important. Who knows, maybe they can do the same as in the U-17.

Villaluz and Araujo seem to be hanging just fine.No doubt Gio and Vela could hang just as well if not better.

Still is better for them to play un U-20 for now instead of these next tournaments or any meaninless friendlies.

Araujo and Villaluz are average league players (at best). Just because they won the u-17 world championship does not mean that their place within the 1st division is already set for them.

How many times did Bofo yell at Araujo to pick it up. I remember one instance where Diego Martinez basically had to babysit him so that Bofo wouldnt get on him.

They are still young, they still have a ways to go....

Perhaps, but Gio and Vela are much better that those two mentioned. That's why they play where they play.

We need to change this idea that because they are young they won't hang on first division, that's the same mentality people in the FMF share.
and maybe part of the reason why countries like Beazil and Argentina are selling 19 yr olds to teams like Real Madrid and we are not,

Vela and Gio may be better players than Araujo and Villaluz--but what have they done to merit a place on the Sr. national team?

Hugo made the right choice, why rush? in good time you will see them with senior squad but not now........
