Also from that article:
He was ejected at last year's World Cup for a foul that led to the go-ahead penalty kick in Ghana's 2-1 victory, which eliminated the Americans in the first round.

Um, no.

Yeah...I read that and I thought I was going crazy because I had no memory of a sending off.

And not actually committing a foul on the play, I thought it rather not worth mentioning.

Plus, we needed to win, not tie.

that's too bad. He missed out on some great competition and playing time.

I get confused by European (or the World's) transfer negotiations.

Belgian daily La Libre said Fulham's offer of $1.97 million was not enough for Onyewu, who was also in talks with AC Milan.

Who gets to decide if they like how much Fulham is offering? Onyewu? Or Standard Liege? Or some combination thereof?

Just curious.

I'd still love to see him at Fulham, that's for sure.

In this case, it's Liege. Sometimes a player will refuse to go to a certain club, but that's not what happened this time. Liege wants more money, and for good reason.

ac milan fulham....

ah, if gooch could really play for milan, then that's a far better gig than fulham...

can we say...goodbye maldini...hello gooch....

i'd bve concerned gooch wouldn't see much playing time at milan though...

perhaps they want to rest maldini keeping him rested for champions league??

I would have liked him to go to Fulham just so we could watch him play. When you think about it, we've never really seen Gooch play that much besides the occasional nat game in the last 2 years.

you want gooch to go to a weaker team, just to watch him play??

i get serie A match every sunday afternoon, and milan shows up quite frequently...

plus, gooch would be playing in a very superior defensive side, with the great talent ac milan possesses...

i'd think, if he would get playing time, ac milan would make him a better overall player...however, playing time there would be very limited i'd think

A.C. Milan's defense:

Cafu 36
Nesta 30
Kaladze 28
Costacurta 40
Maldini 38
Simic 31
Jankulovski 29
Favalli 34
Bonera 25

they might want to bring in some young talent.

Well Real Madrid did bid on him, according to Standard's coach. If that can happen, I can definitely believe AC Milan would consider him as an option.

Good. Gooch is too good for EPL. He should be in Serie A or La Liga.
