Yossi Benayoun has spoken exclusively to whufc.com to set the record straight following what he believes to be fabrications printed in some of the national newspapers this morning.

The Hammers midfielder gave an interview to the Israeli Newspaper Maariv following Monday's 6-0 defeat at Reading. Several English papers have used the interview this morning but Yossi believes they have made additions and fabrications to the quotes he originally provided.

"I couldn't believe it when I read the papers this morning," says Yossi. "I just wanted to say that the players at West Ham know me well and know I would not say the things that have been reported, but I want the fans to know this as well.

"I would never criticise my team mates individually. When you lose, you lose as a team just the same as when you win, you win as a team. I have learned a lesson about the press today. They have taken an innocent interview I did with one Israeli newspaper and misquoted and mistranslated what I said and I will make sure not to make that mistake again.

"I am well aware what a bad situation we are in and these fabrications do not help that. The most important thing for us is to concentrate on turning things round as quickly as possible but distractions like these don't help.

"I am an experienced player and those who know me well, and know my character, know it is not my style to point the finger at anyone. I just want to make it clear, the players here are not just my team mates, they are my friends and I would never disrespect them or the Club in any way.

"The one part of the interview the English papers failed to pick up was the fact I want to stay at West Ham and help get us out of the predicament we are in. I am proud to wear the West Ham shirt. Clubs go through bad patches and we are experiencing that at the moment but we are determined to climb out of it and we still have the belief we can stay in this division."

I think Yossi did call out individuals and I applaud it. It was New Year's Day and he said "playing with drunks." I don't think he was using a metaphor, I think the clique was out late with Charlie and Champagne and they were still drunk on the morning of the game. Deconstruct the clique, transfer NRC to the coldest club in the Budesliga and Anton to Sunderland to serve under Roy Keane. I like Marlon, but if he's in the clique I guess Newcastle can go ahead and take him as rumoured and I hope NRC freezes his arse off at Bolton as rumoured.

This is coming from a Maccabi Tel aviv fan...lol, So don't knock Yossi too hard;)

Is Curbs just looking to push Yossi off the team?

I hope he begins to play him in the middle and then he'll see alot of things this team is missing.

Regardless of rumors and misquotes, Yossi always gives 100% and does what's needed for the teams best interest. That's always been his way, that's how he became such a great player.

I hope Harewood stay's, Curbs needs to find the best way to use him, and score with him.

Bobby Z is just a bad ass, he always gets angry with his fellow team players, even when scoring a goal......does anyone know why? Is he a bad ass or is he just on a team with people he dislikes.

I don't know why Zamora gets all 'mean' when he scores. I always found that a bit weird.

I think Zamora is probably part of the clique but he apparently works hard in training and is always on the move and motivating the other players so maybe this is why he looks more like staying than some of the other players. I would still rather have Darren Bent though.

Yossi is probably a fringe member of the clique but I think everyone including AC recognises the need to keep him and get some of his best football out of him.

Zamora's problem is always going to be that he's a 50/50 finisher. His movement is excellent. Kinda like Kenny Miller.
