Or how about the away match against Costa Rica in San Jose when we were tied and gave away a curcial point by allowing a goal to Wanchope on a hailmary type free kick from half field in the 90th minute? That was also quite painful.
We gave away 2 points in that match. We lost 3-2 because of that last minute gol by Wanchope:mad:
If any one of these matches would have ended differently, Guate would have gone to the WC.

The sad part is that there were MANY chances. The world cup was ours for the taking:
The 0-0 tie to Panama (hard fought but should've won)
The 90minute loss to CR (on a LAME kick)
The 3-2 comeback in Trinidad (our defense fell apart)
The 0-0 tie to the US' B team (the ********ing ball would NOT GO IN!!!)
That's 4 chances that we gave up. You could come up with so many excuses as to what happend, but in the end the team just gave it away.
This time around there can be NO EXCUSES and no "should've, could've, would've".

dred, this is exactly right.
That was why I blaimed Maradiaga at the time. The team was so tactically poor that they were unable to hold a lead when they had one in a critical match. They were always out of position and exposed defensively thorugh the midfield and into the back.
Villatoro came so, so close at striking goal against the US in the waning minutes of the match but the truth is that the boys didn't have enough potent opportunities in the box. Most of the match was played at midfield. You can't win games like that.
The game against Costa Rica was absolutely awful on that third goal - a free kick in extra time from the midfield stripe gets served into the box, bounces a round a bit and then put away by Wanchope. How does a team playing for the WC let that happen in extra time?
Then the T&T match - two goals scored in 5 minutes while our defender was out getting a bloody wound fixed (I think it was Cabrera on the side...maybe Melgar). Why doesn't the team take a more defensive shape until they get back to full-11 side? Instead, they're playing forward aggressively for another goal and Stern John finds himself open a few times in 8 minutes. You can't win games with such poor tactical discipline.
Maradiaga should have made it clear to his team - 10 minutes left, we have a lead, midfield pinches in a bit, defenders mark tightly, play safe and get the ball to the wings ... preserve the lead!?!

looks like another Guatemalan/Garifuna abroad!
Ricardo Foster in the future Plans for Pachuca!! in FMF 1
Crazy development. logically it makes sense since Pachuca colombian keeper is 35 and contract is up after this season and Foster is 26
http://lared.com.gt/internaCont.asp?idc=167218&id_cat=219
Foster deserves it , he is a athleticly gifted and has a reach of a EPL Goalie

lol you beat me too posting to it lol Ricardo Trigueño Foster en los planes de Pachuca heres some more details though

well the Foster deal would be set for the Summer Window, once there other goalie deal is over, I doubt they will resign colombian, since the Colombian keeper is very old. so Foster chances are good.
any way those rumors that don't fall through , come from Municipal, to be specific.
the other team rumors are usually more accurate.

Santeliz was released, o well
Melgar atleast is starting , at least on a team who plays in a tougher league
Melgar team lacks an attack too, and don't forget that colo colo is a South american Powerhouse.
