Voting for the first round of scarf designs has begun. There are 20 designs in total, and we ask everyone who participates to vote for 5 designs. We also ask that you vote once. Voting will last until midnight of January 11th. After that the top 5 will be entered into the next round of voting for the final design.

You can cast your votes here. (http://www.midnightriders.com/Scarf_Voting-2007.htm)

Enjoy!

In addition, we ask that people please refrain from turning this thread into a design debate. These are the designs as submitted for consideration. Let your vote reflect your feelings towards the proposed designs.

Thanks.

Just a suggestion, but considering the relatively few number of people who traffic this section of the Revolution forum, it would probably make sense to put this thread in the main Revolution, rather than the Revolution supporters' forum.

Just my 2 cents.

It's a supporters club forum so I felt it should be placed here. It's not a Revolution related topic.

Where do we debate them?

I look to you for guidance. This seemed the proper place.

Just to let people know, we took two designs out. One was the Section 8 scarf (was asked to be withdrawn by designer) and another was a scarf that contained the phrase "New England Revolution", something we can not produce.

I ask those who voted for those two scarves to vote for another scarf.

Sorry for the mishap.

Seriously, sticky and lock an announcement thread in the main forum. There's no reason not to discuss the designs here. That's like telling all the talk radio and cable news debate programs to go off the air and let their votes do the talking.

Did the scarf numbers change? I got a message saying I voted for scarf numbers. I hope this doesn't mess things up.

No, it hasn't. Scarf 7 and Scarf 11 have been taken out. I'm actually about to email those who voted for them.

Hold on a second. Did you take out my Riders scarf?

I am very proud of that design and I specifically asked if it was OK to have "loyal supporters of the new england revolution" on it. I was ready to change it if I had to before the deadline.

It was taken out due to the phrase of "New England Revolution". I made it clear that any design that does not have two sides or contains trademarked content would be taken out of consideration.

OK, that's absolute crap. First off, scarf six has the exact same thing on it. Second, you participated in that same conversation. Monty said it was ok. I could have easily changed it. You also had the scarf on your yahoo site so I thought it was good to go.

Why would you set a deadline, accept designs without checking them, set up a vote two weeks later, start the voting process and then reject designs. YOU HAD TWO WEEKS TO GET PEOPLE TO AMMEND UNNACCEPTABLE DESIGNS! If you're going to be that rigid, you might want to have, oh I don't know, RULES!

I put too much work into my designs for my best one to be rejected that way.

All of this shows lack of attention to detail.

I applaud your efforts in this and the wikipedia project. However, you have a lot to learn about the kind of work it takes to do things in a professional manner.

I admit that your design slipped by but please tell me where the 6 other scarves that are being voted on that have the same thing.

I made it VERY CLEAR that New England Revolution was not allowed on the scarf, and Evan ellaborated why it was so.

Scarf Six, not six scarves. Right above "Midnight Riders".

I had a specific question. Monty answered it. You were vague at best and didn't address my specific question.

Up until an hour ago, you were willing to let that hodge-podge fire scarf into the vote and then address issues later. Then, after the voting started, you took it and miy scarf off.

All of that could have been easily avoided with proper communication.

Alright - before this thread turns into one big shouting match:

After consulting with Steve, designs #6 and #7 will be allowed to amend the wording so as to avoid possible trademark infringement. The voting page has been restored to display design #7.

Let's be clear on one thing however - Steve Erickson is the Merchandise Coordinator for the Midnight Riders. This entire effort is spearheaded by him with input from the other board members. It's his job to undertake this effort and between gathering the info and getting it up on our site, it's been a huge amount of work. Also, this is his first time running something like this, so there is undoubtedly going to be a certain degree of trial and error with no malice intended.

This ultimately is a volunteer effort. Let's give a little respect to the work involved by the designers as well as the people working behind the scenes.

This seems like a good compromise.

Thanks to everyone who submitted designs and who are running the votes.

Ok I just re voted based upon the changes that went into effect.

Great job everyone for putting these designs together and for the people, or Steve, for putting up the site and everything. I've done something similar to this before and I know its a major pain in the ass, especially as a volunteer.

May I make a minor suggestion as far as the voting process goes? This may already be the plan, but I feel it would be wise to keep the number of votes for each scarf in this round secret until after all rounds of voting have finished, as this may sway peoples opinions during the final vote.

Thanks again everyone, I look forward to the next vote and to wearing the scarf in the Fort this year.
