Beasley started up top for Manchester City in today's 2-1 win over visiting Everton. After a scoreless first half, Beasley found Samaras in the 49th minute to open the scoring. Samaras tallied again in the 71st off a penalty.
I know Beasley is getting this playing time because of other injuries on the team, but hopefully his form will gain him a starting spot on the team.
The arguments of Beasley being too small to play as a forward in the EPL apparently do not appear, at this juncture, to be accurate. Time will tell, however, what the constant battering of EPL defensive sides and the bruising schedule will do to Gumby.
I would love to have a confident, game-on Beasley for this summer's contests.
For discussion: could Beasley perform as a striker for the Nats as he is for Citeh? Given our current dearth of striker options, it would be great to see him have a chance.

I suppose Beasley at striker is an option... would certainly hurt on the defensive side of the ball having to use Convey at left mid. I hope this aspect of convey's game has been improving or already has improved... Not sure we have a lock at the left back position either (though my choice is Bocanegra) and we would i'm sure need the help on the left flank.
Glad to hear he got an assist... nice work beas.

Beasley was not a striker today.
Beasley was not a striker today.

He was playing a very very very pinched in left midfielder. Not out wide very often at all.

In the second half he was moved much further out wide, and stayed their mostly for the rest of the half.

He got one of the best ratings for the team on skysports, a 7 and it said he caused problems.

Just curious as to why he is listed as a striker in their lineup. I have never seen that before. Was it a typographical error, or were Citeh wanting to pull more offensively from Beas?

If this is ESPN soccernet, I've seen them make that mistake before. They seem to list Michael Bradley as a striker every other week at Heerenveen. City started in a 3-5-2 today, and changed to a 4-4-2 at halftime, but soccernet has them playing a 5-2-3 (although it did look like they were playing with 5 defenders in the first half).

It was an error, as City had Vassell and this poor Italian fellow as forwards. Beaz was definitely playing behind them, in the midfield, centrally in the first half and wider in the second.

Beasley is at his best playing out wide. Imo with his defensive abilities he can be a standout performer at that position in the EPL. At the international level, I'd be interested in seeing him at left back pending the coach's tactics and formation. Unlike Eddie Lewis, Beez does have the natural defensive tendencies.

Actually, he is listed as a striker on City's homepage, where Soccernet probably got their information.
Regardless, it is great to see Beasley back in form. Can't wait to see how the rest of this season turns out for him. One goal and one assist out of his first two games back from injury is a pretty good start.

Beas does well on the outside because it plays to his strengths. His quick but weak on the ball (in terms of physical strength)... He is very good defensively but not physical enough to actually play on the back line... If any national team saw Beas at Left back, they'd just send in some (anyone over 140 LBS.) to run at him, hit him, foul him, take a card whatever.
At striker he'd do OK I think at least in concacaf. We see some pretty weak competition in the early rounds of qualifying and he could use his speed to get through I think. Though the central american teams tend to be a little rougher than the caribbean nations.
Once we got to the finals of CONCACAF qualiifying though I think he would really struggle. Mexican defense can't be beaten by pure speed. in fact I think the canadian, cuban, jamaican teams would all make it a rough day for beas up top.
against weaker competition i think beas could look very very good anywhere on the field... but the bigger, quicker, tougher the opponent gets, the wider and more isolated Beas needs to be. Striker full time in the EPL is probably out of the question.

That Vassell was up front probably helped DmB. They seemed to be contending for playing time at the same midfield spot.

Nah, Vassell will stay a striker up top, no midfielder play, and City doesn't use wingers.
Really, richards is who BMD is fighting time for, but with Reyna and Barton out, and Pierce really liking Beasley, he going to be playing a lot for the rest f the season barring injuries.
