RunDMB came off the bench to slot in the only score in Manchester City's victory over West Ham.
Does this mean our man is getting his groove back? There has been much discussion over his continued injury, and whether Man City was disappointed in bringing him into their squad. Some had even conjectured that his bench time was not at all injury/fitness related, but that he was not a sufficient talent at the position Citeh needed to fill.
I have really enjoyed watching Beasley when he is on fire, and I would love to think that that fire has returned. At any rate, being in Citeh's rotation and seeing some time on the field can only be good for him, and I hope to see him starting soon!
Good on you, Beasley!

Yes, this means 18 months of terrible soccer are all forgiven.

Soon enough people are going to be saying Beasley hasn't done anything of worth since Korea in 2002. It was barely over a year ago that he had a standout Champions League performance in PSV's win against AC Milan. And he's looked close to his old self in the few games he played for Manchester City before his most recent injury.

Yes, complaining about someone who's been injured is the way to go. No one was expecting Beasley to do good at the world cup because he was still trying to get back into it coming off his injury. He wasn't there yet and everyone knew it except Bruce apparently.
No one besides Bruce would have played Beasley. But he did get us our goal so stop crying. Beasley is a great player obviously. We've seen what he can do when he's at 100%. Look at 04/05 with PSV. That's who Beasley is. He will come back. He had a rough time with those injuries. I'm not sure why people think he can all of a sudden just suck. It's called INJURIES.

That was the worst defense I have seen in a while. It reminded me of playing FIFA 2007 on the PS2 and just dribbling right at defenders while they watch the player go right through the seam.

Nope. Beasley was level with Ferdinand when he received the pass and his initial touch was good enough to throw Ferdinand off (he was also stymied briefly by Richard's run to the far post). Spector was just coming over to provide cover, having been marking a man on the left. Spector's got decent speed but nothing to match Beasley, plus he was playing with a yellow so he'd have no business going for the ball from behind. It was a nice sequence of passing and runs that put Beasley in a position to use his speed, which he did. For what it's worth, the game commentators just talked about the quality of the play and did not point to any mistakes by the defense.

according to BS, a drop in form has nothing to do with chronic injury problems over the past year.

Sweet goal. And important, too.
Nice to receive affirmation that there's still plenty of Run (and dribble) left in RunDMB.
Thanks for the link!

It was bad defense. Classic "You take him", "No, YOU take him" defense. Ferdinand was tracking Richards, which left him moving the wrong way and unable to adjust, Spector wasnt over to help, and the third defender was picking his nose before Ferdinand turned Richards over too him (too late for Ferdinand to actually stop the run. Because the defense didnt sort out their assignments, Beasley had plenty of time and space to collect, turn at the defense, and split the seem. Beasley's speed though did help to exploit and magnify the defensive mistake.
Great finish though.

Great finish though. HE burned those defenders and they know it. The DMB of old, IMHO.

If anyone wasn't watching the entire game, it was straight up POURING rain for the 10 mins prior to that goal. That he was able to make that chance and score is a testament to his swimming as much as his speed. Ah, England.
And, at the end of his run he had a player wide open inside the 6 yard box, but he took the shot and made it count. Well done to him; thank god he didn't miss it.
It is so very bigsoccer of us though, to divide along the lines of either giving him all the credit in the world, or none at all by blaming it on the defense.
It was a very good play, and an important goal for his team. I'm content to leave it at that, and hopefully he can get more playing time in the future.

18 months isn't very accurate. The USMNT has not played in 6 months. He has been injured at Man City most of the time he been there. The last game in the WC he had an assist. He scored a goal against Italy that was rubbed off because of interference. His play was lacking as well as Reyna and LD because the team had no direction.
