How long is Owen tied to the Toon Army? If when he returns, you have Martins, Ameobi, Rossi (If you decided to try to keep full time after the winter transfer window), as well as attackers suck as N'Zogbia and Luque, would Owen be expendible? Or is he definately staying in a Magpie jersey?

Until he is fit and proved that he will bounce back the salvation army wouldn't take him on a free.

I want to see he back fighting fit and frist choice at Newcastle.

He looks to be out for the season.

What I mean is that when he comes back, will he have a spot on the team or will Newcastle look to sell him?

He'll have to prove himself fit and show demonstrable ability to bag goals before we can even consider passing him on, as we won't want to take a 15-million-plus pound loss on him. Of course, if he does come back and demonstrates an ability to score goals at remotely the level he did before, we won't need to sell him anyway, I don't imagine. He's probably not going anywhere. Let's just hope he doesn't go Solskjaer on us and be out for the next three years.

Owens talent is not to be questioned. LEts just hope he gets fit. If anything depth in the Newcastle squad is in his best intrest, he doesn't need to be play every single league, cup, and european game.

Sadly I forsee a retirement from international competition and him focusing on getting his club carear back on track.:(

I'll bet freddy would sell all the other strikers before he lets owen go. The first to leave will be Luque anyway.

I see him playing for the Toons for a good long time. That is once he gets game ready and done with rehab. He came back from last seasons injury I think he will be ready easily by next season, if not hopefully by end of this, but I doubt the later one.

We can only hope.

Owen isn't going anywhere, at least not until he bags a glut of goals for us, as he's worthless (transfer fee-wise) until he proves he can recapture his old form.

I'm glad to see the surgery went well. He's still going to be out for six to eight months minimum, however, even if it's a speedy recovery.

with rossi only on loan we dont have to many strikers. depending on how he does and if manu dont want him back till the summer(remember manu are having no problems scoring and without rooney i might add,) hopefully owen will be fit for next season at the latest!;) with martins, owen, and shola thats three solid strikers plus an assortment of attacking mids.

Michael said he is aiming for a return in April. Who wants to take bets on the over/ under?

I'm going for the over, I'd be shocked to see him play this season. Here is to hoping, just not very optimistic.

How long is his contract?

He's in the second year of a four-year deal.

Remember, odds are he never plays for NUFC again. So I could give a toss if he re-injures himself in another ill-fated rush-back-to-the-pitch.

Thx,

Jay!

According to NUFC.com we are going to put in a 20 million claim against the FA for the injury. Don't really know where the figures come from, but I guess you can argue merchandising, lower placing in the table, etc without him, or I guess it sounds like a good firgure to recoup the complete cost we paid for him.

The g14 are supporting us along with others that this has happened to. Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but aren't these players insured by someone? The club? The FA? Of course it does us no good as he is out for the year most likely. And I don't care what anyone says, there is no guarantee he would be the player he once was we he does return

FA policies cover half a player's wages while he's on the mend.
