I will be in London for a week in February, and the only game day that I will be able to see will be on 2/17. Who should I see?
QPR vs Preston North End
Leyton Orient vs Carlisle United
Crystal Palace vs Birmingham City
Decision will be made taking quality of team, ground, proximity to London City, and intangibles.
Any help would be welcomed.

All three are in the actual city of London (if not the "City of London" which is a small financial district) so distance isn't really an issue.
For stadium/atmosphere I'd normally say QPR, but with Birmingham playing Palace there could be a much better atmosphere at that match.
Luton v Sheffield Wednesday takes place on the following Tuesday night. Luton is only just outside London, and easy to reach by train. Luton is the classic cramped ground (in fact it redifines the word "cramped"), and the town of Luton is probably best appreciated at night, when you can't see it.
Millwall host Leyton Orient the same night in what could be a tense London derby, what with both teams struggling.
Barnet host Swindon in League Two the same evening.
Brentford also play Northampton on the Monday night

Thanks for the input. Sadly, I will be back in the USA by the following Tuesday. It is remarkable how little there is going on that week, absolutely nada in the Premiership, niente during the week, and so my choices are limited. QPR sounded like the best deal but I can't say I know much about English football.
Another fun choice might be to see some rugby, but I think the closest top flight game would be in Wigan.

there's no premiership games as it's FA Cup 5th round week. There could be an FA Cup match or two in London.
As for Rugby, you need to look at rugby union as well as rugby league. London Irish play Bath on the 17th. London Irish play in Reading, not London, but you can get to Reading from Paddington Station in about 25 minutes.
The following day London Wasps play Sale and Saracens play Gloucester. Wasps play in Wycombe (at Wycombe Wanderers FC), just outside London, and Saracens play at Watford's ground.

Well I'll be going to see Palace that day. I happen to like them, but in all honesty it's the best out of the 3 matches you mentioned. Birmingham is 1st in the Championship at the moment. Although tix for Selhurst Park are pricey.

Hey, I'm game. Although that didn't sound like an invite (nor taken as such), I will be running solo so it would be nice to have someone watch my back. My wife and mother-in-law will be with me but not going to a game. The last time I took my wife to see a game in Paris, a riot broke out and she decided enough was enough.

There won't be any riots, don't worry. My wife will be going to the match unless it's a raging rain storm. I'm supposed to meet up with some Palace fans I have been corrresponding with. Send me your E-Mail address if you like.
