I figured i'll start one.
Just saw Green Street Hooligans with Elijah Wood. It's about the GSE, the West Ham firm. Anyobe seen that? At one point in the movie, i was actaully cheering for West Ham.:o :D
Clan, any truth to this movie and your days?

Actually its a more modern take. In clans day it used to just go of at the games. Now it happens miles away from the police, crowds, and CCTV - as per the movie.

The biggest complaint I hear is how quickly the Elijah Wood character is taken into the fold.
Personally I'm not sure how accurate it is to portray modern "hoolis" as almost completely disinterested in their team's actual play/results. I'm no expert though, obviously.
Just my 2¢.

I thought it was a decent movie, but many of the scenes were taken from the movie, The Football Factory. It was about some Chelsea thugs. I think you might enjoy that one a bit more. GSE was for Yanks ;) I know, cause I am one & can totally identify w/ Wood's character.

This is a challenging post for Septics here, as we SELDOM see football movies, as they don't get released (I think I was one of 20 people who saw "Fever Pitch" with Colin Firth - and 25 who saw "Mean Machine" with Vinnie Jones - much more graphic re: prison violence than "Longest Yard" - and I'm in NYC!)
well, "Once in a Lifetime" was interesting. But the documentarian (and I know the guy who did the movie is a Chelsea guy) ignored a few things - such as:
1. the influence of the mysterious "Professor" Julio Mazzei - a Mich. State faculty memeber who had a LOT of time on his hands.
2. how Seamus Malin got the Cosmos broadcasting gig - he was also Admissions Director at Harvard (alos the soccer coach - see how seriously they took the game) by getting Steve Ross' kid (who appears in the movie) in.
3. nothing about the other mystery man - Hennes Weisweiler, Coach of Champions......
I think someone oughta do a documentary on "How Soccer Expalins the World" - three or four chapters, each 20 minutes or so, about a theme in the book (eg. The Old Firm, Holland v. Germany, multiculturalism in French football, does "national origin" in the era of Olisadebe, Hargreaves (he's Canadian!), Mehmet Scholl, etc. matter, etc.)

I haven't seen any really good football movies, tbh. Other than, of course;):
