Here's a link to a pre-broadcast article on ABC's website for tonight's 20/20 show. Apparently, this is the main feature.

Looking for everyone's reviews after the show.

Man the article that is listed at ABC.com is way off. It says that DB scored the game winning goal against Greece in the World Cup semifinal. I don't remember that game. I assume they are talking about the Argentina game. Then they said the he got kicked out of a "cruial playoff game for the world cup" Again I think that they are talking about the '98 Argentina game. I wonder what else they will get wrong.

we all know what they meant to refer to, but they totally screwed the pooch with their terminology and lack of fact checking/editing.

Even if that is what they were referring to, it was not the semi-final of the World Cup and thier facts are still way off.

Just remember that this is ABC, the network that brought the World Cup Final to most of Amerca....on tape delay. They handle soccer about as well as their sister network, ESPN. They just don't get it.

I just wonder why 20/20 is doing a piece on the Beckhams. Almost no one in America knows who David Beckham is. Must be the piece is about Posh.

Then again maybe this is a ploy by the movie people to get butts in the seats for "Bend It Like Beckham." ABC probably has the network TV rights and Disney is the distributor.

There was an article in 4-4-2 before the WC I believe that said his marketing people had a 10 point plan to market him at various stages...my guess is they've come up on the next number and that's to get him well known over here...I may be wrong, but it does seem weird that ABC is doing something on him...curiouser and curiouser...

Peace...

ABC didn't do that. Individual stations did.

And as much as they 'don't get it," I guess you are referrig to the wide range of soccer offerings other American networks have.

Dude, it's not like the rights haven't been out there for others to snap up.

Which was shortly after they showed it live. Or, at least, made it available live for their stations. Most of whom, falling in line with the Vast Anti-Soccer Conspiracy, didn't clear it, of course.

What he said.

The People Who Hate the Vast Anti-Soccer Conspiracy seem to have short memories.

One of these days you folks are going to have to start specifically pointing out all of these posts that have overrun this forum that allegedly talk of conspiracies (if i may say so without implying disrespect to that pillar of integrity and unbiased analysis that is our sacred cow the media.)

Many of them have been lost to various Crashes, but it's implicit if not explicit in almost everything that the "f*** ABC, get us to Fox as soon as possible" people say.

Actual conspiracy theories are implicitly or explicitly brought up only very very rarely in this forum, and usually by newbies who are never heard from again. Nonetheless, many people here read conspiracy theories into virtually any post that has any gripe whatsoever with the media. Lots of the media bashing here is unwarranted, like here, (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=44964) but lots isn't. These days any critisism gets the boogey-man label of "paranoid conspiracy talk" thrust upon it, thus ending any real discussion.
