A little bit of salary detail in the Tim Howard article:

"The proof of that is in the salaries MLS goalies make. Kansas City Wizards goalie Tony Meola, Howard's former mentor with the MetroStars, is by far the highest-paid goalie in the league, at a little more than $200,000 a year. Only four others make at least $100,000. Howard's contract, signed before the 2000 season, pays him a base salary of around $60,000, plus bonuses."

One way to get around MLS salary secrecy is to have a bunch of players use the same agent. That agent then knows what the MLS market is and can use that for the player.

What type of salary could Tim Howard pull if he played in the EPL?

...the only problem is, he couldn't get a spot in the EPL. One appearance(?) for the USMNT is way short of what's needed. The more relevant question is how much he could pull in the First Division.

Would the answer be 'Multiply by five'?

Then divide by two.

Haven't quite a few players successfully appealed the rule that states that in order for a player to be elligible for a work permit, he must play in 75% or more of his national team's games over the past 2 years?

Then multiply that by itself and then take the square root of that product.
