The second of two all American goal tending matches for Reading in as many matches. After giving up two come from behind losses it doesn't look like there will be any changes to the starting XI. Convey and Kits are both running and are looking good, but neither are match fit yet. Everton have their own fitness issues with Cahill still out and Arteta picking up a foot knock against Chelsea, they are pretty thin in the middle right now. Overall I think the teams match up pretty well and it should be a good fight. However, we are 5-3-1 at home and Everton are only 1-4-4 playing away. Hopefully #13 can give us the boost we need for a win.

I don't think this match is available to watch anywhere on the planet (outside the Mad Stad), so we'll have to listen to this on the radio. We'll get to see the Chelsea and Man Utd games..although I'm not sure if that's really going to be a good thing.

Anyway, both teams lost leads pretty late last week and then lost really late. Hopefully our team can recover better.

I hate to do it but I may have to break down and order SETANT. They don't have Saturdays match, but they are carrying the next two against Chelsea and ManU. I hate the idea of paying $15 for one channel though.

If you have Direct TV, you're really getting two channels when you order Setanta, because there is also the "Setanta Extra" channel which shows extra games. I think Reading have been on it a couple times.

If you have a broadband connection and don't mind hearing Chinese commentary (or no commentary if you turn down the volume - for some reason, I like to hear something even though I can't understand anything but names and the commentators' inflection is notoriously reserved), I'm pretty sure you can see games that are broadcast on FSC or Setanta on internet stream at no cost. You just need to download a P2P program like Sopcast. I have a cable connection and the quality is pretty decent (certainly better than audio only). Unfortunately, due to the delay, you can't (I can't) watch the stream and listen to the audio.

Of the games that weren't on FSC, I was able to see the following on the internet:

West Ham away
Tottenham at home
Watford away

This is another good site to find the games. You have to sign up for a free password, but they have direct links to the games and to the software you need. I have watched several of the Reading matches this way. Not bad, and it is free.

so how many American goalies in the Premiership in total? 3? anymore in the reserves or lowere leagues? How many in Europe?

Reckon it was ole Sly in Victory that did the trick and opened the Eurosnobs eyes to the potential of an American wearing the goalkeeper gloves? lol :D

back to the serious note; so whats the secret? is goalie a popular postion in the US? is it to do with American attitude and approach to the game? or is it simply one of those positions that requires less skill with the ball but more hand to eye coordination and either agility (if you are small) or the ability to position your self and close the ange (if you are big). Skill with the ball may need more time to develope, but hand eye coord is universal in all sports so perhaps it translates better. Or do American just like being able to shout orders out from behind the lines?

btw, anyone listening to this game on the radio? if so which internet link do you use?

the game is being shown on tape delay in Korea i believe, so a radio link will have to do......the reason for the tape delay is Park Ji-sung is coming out of his injury and the ManU v Aston Villa match may be his return from inury game (probably as a sub). Lee Young-Pyo likely to start for Spurs as well. So this leaves poor old Reading in the backburner.....

a bit of a shame really, would have liked to have watched this match live, fair bit more than ManU or Spurs game, but i guess the cable station decided to go with the big name games.

There are at least two more in Europe just off the top of my head, Keller at Borussia Monchengladbach and Westberg at Troyes of France (is a backup). I'm sure there are more, but its 8:52 AM.

I think its the hand eye coordination. Baseball may have something to do it. I don't really get it either, truthfully.
