I'll concede to the vitality of their roles in the clubs.
But not to saying they are two of the best in the world. No, no, no. No. I can name at least 15 players that are better:
1. Kaka
2. Deco
3. Essien
4. Robinho
5. Ronaldinho
6. Totti
7. Gilberto Silva
8. Scholes
9. Cristiano Ronaldo
10. Aimar
11. Gatuso
12. Cambiasso
13. Viera
14. Makalele
15. Fabregras
And that's at their position only.
Robinho is not a midfielder. Cambiasso, you have got to be kidding me.The only players on that list who play the same role for their club are Scholes, Deco and maybe Kaka and Totti.

Aimar plays the same role, Robiho plays an attacking midfield role behind Van Nilsterroy and Raul or Higuan as of late. Scholes plays the same role. you have an issue with 1 guy on my list and i'm kidding you?

My point is that when you say Chelsea there are 4 or 5 players that come to mind before Lampard. When you say Liverpool there are probably 3 or 4 that come to mind before Gerrard. They are not even the best players on their teams, why argue about who's better?

ok, I get it. You don't watch Chelsea and Liverpool games. How in the world do you compare Robinho with Gerrard or Lampard? Seriously? They are totally different players. And like I said, only a few of the names you mentioned play the same role for their club as does Lampard and Gerrard. Just b/c the players are all lumped into a category called "midfielders", doesn't make them the same players.

Hmm. This is, however, your mind we're speaking about. So ... well, you know ...

Who would you compare them to then if you don't compare them to the other midfielders that I mentioned? I'll admit I've watched a lot more Chelsea games than Liverpool games but don't share the same reverence for Lampard as you do. If you have watched some Real Madrid, Zaragoza, or Barcelona games you would see that Deco, Aimar, and to some extent Robinho are asked to do some of the same things that Lampard does. Anyway the list I gave is still a valid arguement of all of the players that are better than these two as the statement made was that Lampard and Gerrard are two of the best "players" in the world.

Pereira_17 - a great unifying force. We can all agree that this guy is an idiot.

Arf ... I love this form of weaseling out of this particular type of argument.
What, precisely and demonstrably, is it that Lampard is asked to do? And what, precisely and demonstrably, is it that Robinho, Deco and Aimar do - again to explicit instruction - that is comparable?
See, until now all we've got is you blowing smoke out yer arse ... so how about you surprise us all, eh?

Fastest? Gerrard.
Stongest? Gerrard.
Most accurate? Gerrard.
Most succesful? Gerrard.
Better match winner? Gerrard.
Most sought after around Europe? Gerrard.
Better Captain? Gerrard.
Better passer? Gerrard.
Better tackler? Gerrard.
Better crosser? Gerrard.
More complete player? Gerrard.
In what way exactly is Lampard a better player ? Most deflected goals in games you are already winning?

Yes, Gerrard is superior to Lampard in every facet of the game, since there are only 11 and you've proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Gerrard is unquestionably better than Lampard in these categories, all of which have been evaluated completely objectively. Well done.

Ah.. how do you guys put it...rubbish. I will agree to disagree. In short I will watch and follow the players that I feel are better as far as more skill and more exciting to watch while you are content to watch your players who you feel are skillful. If I were starting a team, I would not start with either of these guys to build my team around.

By the way this is the best analysis and arguement that has been given to support an opinion throughout this whole thread.

Good grief.
Presumably you are going to produce stats to show Gerrard is a better passer and more accurate?
If i recall, according to opta or whatever, only lampard, scholes and gilberto are in the top bracket from the prem.

Lampard has a better nickname. I think we can agree on that.

Just wanted to tell this Pareira idiot that Javier Mascherano is the most overrated footballer on this planet. I wouldn't take that piece of shit over Lassana Diarra.

Sorry you are quite right.
Better at kissing the badge of every club he plays for Lampard.
Better rent boy. Lampard.
Fatter player. Lampard.
Better at being made to look a better player than he is by playing next to 10 players costing between them around 200 million pound. Lampard.
Better at not being able to get to European Cup finals despite playing in the so called better team. Lampard.
Better at declaring he is happier than he has ever been at Chelski and his undying love then a week later professing his love of Barcelona. Lampard.
Better at only being made captain when the real captain is out of the picture. Lampard.
Did I miss any out this time ?

We accept your abject and unconditional surrender on this matter. Thanks for being so pragmatic. Many people would have sought to extend the idiocy they created ... you, to your credit, realised very quickly that you'd got in way over your head and you therefore leave with some dignity intact.

Hmmm. Except there would have been no penalties without Gerrard.
Do you not see the illogical nature of this argument though?
Even if Gerrard had scored all three Liverpool goals after beating 10 players and running the length of the pitch, no player can single-handedly win any game which still hangs in the balance when he makes his last contribution. Do you not see that?

Yes. Yes I do. Now will you ******** off and/or accept the obvious fact that I was not being entirely literal, because let's face it, I don't have to be in any discussion about whether Fatty is a disastrous choice of spanky monkey for anyone who wants to pretend they know something about what makes a genuinely meaningful footballer?
