Well you asked, he answered, do those people count as experts or the rest of the world or fellow professionals?
No, no and yes.
Arf ... one out of three is a pass with you, huh? We should christen this "the Chelsea scale". Which, clearly, is the standard applied to evaluating the abilities of footballers who wear blue.
:D
My word, but you're cruel. This beaten horse is so dead, it's been processed, packaged and we're arguing over shrinkwrapped scraps at the back of a dusty shelf in a south London "deli".

Still trying your best to answer with clever sounding posts, and yet still avoiding the point....

The point's been made many times.
If you ask supporters of all the Premiership teams (excluding Liverpool and Chelsea) who they would prefer to sign between Gerrard and Lampard, if given the choice. Gerrard would come out on top 80% of the time. Fans aren't fooled by stats, they use those things known as eyes.

Pele quote:
"The fans, they look only for forwards, always a forward. Somebody who scores."
"Sometimes you have a player like Gerrard. For me, for the last five years Gerrard has been the best player in the world.

this thread has gotten so stupid that it's actually fun to read now.

Quoting Pele as evidence, we have a winner!

Perhaps when I see Frank Lampard holding aloft the Champions League trophy, I might casually consider him to be worthy of lacing Gerrard's boots.
Until then there is no debate.

I remember more the picture of GErrard lifting his own league's trophy, oh wait, you mean he's never won that?

Hmmm. The opinion of a Football legend or a biased yank Chelsea fan who's probably only ever watched 2 matches. That's a tricky one.

With all due respect to Pele, he's proven himself to be quite foolish in matters of analyzing football. Saying, for example, that Nicky Butt (who was in excellent form at the time) is one of the best players in the world, well, that tends to lose one credibility.

He actually said Butt was one of the players of that World Cup. I don't necessarily agree with him, however Butt did bring some balance to that England team by doing the dirty work and had a great match against the Argies. It's not the first time ex-footballers have pointed out the massive unseen contribution of such footballers, Makelele and Gilberto have often recieved high acclaim.

Ahahahah ... there goes irony.
The world at large, barring the clearly baseless corners we've already been over, disagrees with you - you, therefore, claim that it is clouded by stupidity and ignorance (as rich a statement as I believe has ever been submitted to Bigsoccer's content servers) and it's everyone else that needs a reality check?
You're beyond parody by this point.
He asked for experts and fellow professionals, he got his anwer, it wasnt what he wanted......
Yaaaaawn ... covered it. Plus, of course, you're again inventing what I actually did or did not say/do. Such desperation does not go unnoticed, sadly.

Hahaha. Brilliant. Pelé was a great great player. But he knows NOTHING about football.

I like to think I know a little. I don't claim to be a leading authority or anything though, unlike some in this thread.

Nope. We are talking about Gerrard and Lampard. No one else. And remember who we beat on the way in the semi final.
To compare the two is laughable. Frank Lampard would not get into our first eleven. Steven Gerrard would walk straight into yours. Your manger bid £30 million pounds for him. Or had you forgotten about that?
And...anways did Frank even play at Anfield on Saturday? I certainly did'nt notice him. I suppose the guy who was asked to close him down him must have done a good job eh?
They went head to head this week and your man lost.
Nuff said.

Well, you say 'beat'...
To suggest that Lampard would not get into Liverpool's team is absolutely ridiculous. And don't forget that when Chelsea bid for him, he was all packed and ready to go until some bin-dippers threatened him.
Frank Lampard played very poorly on Saturday as has been discussed, but it was nothing to do with Gerrard. Moreover, *they* didn't go head to head, a selection of players representing two clubs did.
