Imagine Gerrard keeping things simple, interlinking play, showing defensive responsibilities, having world-class vision and long range passing and scoring shitloads of goals every single season.... me either.

like i said, im not a true supporter of either, just love football, birmingham are my local team but arsenal play aesthetically pleasing football and ive followed them for over a decade (pre wenger)....im sure chelsea is your local team...let me guess, a fan since abramovich came?

Gerrard is a better player for England than Lampard... To quote a good friend of mine,

I could well have been, given that for a guy that supposedly just lurks near the box and waits for the ball to come to him for 90 minutes while 9 other men sweat their bollocks off, Lampard has been in Chelsea & I think even the Premiership's top handful of players in terms of passes attempted/complete (crosses, too) and tackles made. And f'ck me, but those deflected goals have a funny tendency to be late on to level up games, or give Chelsea a one-goal lead.

FTR, I think Gerrard is the more talented player, but Lampard has made more of his abilities (partly due to Houllier ruining Gerrard, who under the guidance of a Wenger or Ferguson could have been one of the best midfielders of the modern era). Neither of them can ever touch Scholes, mind. ;)
