Gerrard

Why? Shouldn't "Fat"Frank put all his weight behind his arm action and get enough leverage to out armwrestle Gerrard?

Gerrard is more of an all-round player. Better passer, tackler, better pace.

Lampard scores a bit more but a lot of the goals are meaningless!
I'd much rather have Stevie in my lineup.

Haha! without a doubt Gerrard is much better than Lampard! Lampard is a halfway decent player ...(Well he's better than me anyway) But he's kind of alot like Beckham which is to say over hyped and overated. He's been lucky as his Dad & Uncle have both been involved with coaching roles within the professional level in England so I'm sure that opened alot of doors for him. What I've noticed is when the English national side play's without Lampard in the midfield it run's like a well oiled machine & not a bump in the road & Gerrard always shines & play's well. When Lampard is throw into the mix however nine times out of ten that same midfield turns into a train wreck! He just crowds up the midfield & get's in everyones' way! Gerrard has it all. He has pace & top level skills & he's powerful on & off the ball & it's rare to see him have an off game. Lampard on the other hand is more or less luke warm or cold most of the time & that's why I find Gerrard to be the much better player of the two!:D

gerrard is a much more dynamic and better all round player, always has been

could lampard cut it on the right? in a more defensive role?

his goalscoring record is the only good thing about him

but he takes alot of free kicks and penalties and basically waits outside the box for chances

his passing has become poor now, and his set pieces for england atrocious

drop him

gerrard>>>>>>>>>>lamps

Haha! Yeah I agree! England should drop Lampard I'm sure his buddy Beckham could pull some strings & get him into some low budget film out in Hollyweird! Haha! As far as England's midfield is concerned they should go with Gerrard in the middle, Joe Cole on the left & Owen Hardgreaves on the right that would be one of the best national side midfields' in the world hands' down! What do you people think?:D England has good players' & they can compete with the best national sides in the world. They need to root out the usual politics, get a strong manager for once & use the right players' in the right positions!:D

Haha! Just because I do not care for Beckham or Lamapard as players' & I find the both of them to be over hyped & overated doesn't mean I'm a troll. Anyways I'm well over 6 feet tall which is a bit too tall for a troll! Maybe you should look in the mirror:D

Haha! Hey Monster! It doesn't matter where Gerrard plays in England's midfield as he's a very good player & can handle any role. It's just he seems to play so much better when he doesn't have Lampard in there getting in his way & crowding him:D

Lets compare Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard recent success
Frank Lampard 06/07 23goals and 16assists
Steven Gerrard 06/07 14goals and 10assists

Frank lampard 05/06 20goals and 10assists
Steven Gerrard 05/06 23goals 11assists

Frank Lampard 04/05 23goals and 16assists
Steven Gerrard 04/05 14goals and 5assists

Frank Lampard 03/04 16goals and 7assists
Steven Gerrard 03/04 8goals and 7assists

Frank Lampard 02/03 8goals and 2assists
Steven Gerrard 02/03 7goals and 8assists

And For NT:-
Frank Lampard 56appearances and 13goals
Steven Gerrard 59appearances and 12goals

Totals: - includes club and country
Frank Lampard 93goals and 51assists
Steven Gerrard 78goals and 41assists and Gerrard has had a hundred more appearances than Lampard, Literally!!

Steven Gerrards best season to date = 05/06 23goals and 11assists
Frank Lampards best season to date = 04/05 23goals and 16assists

07/08 steven gerrard 1goal and 0assist
07/08 Frank Lampard 4goals and 1assist

The closest Gerrard has come to being Euro footballer of the year is 3rd place.
The closest Lampard has come to being Euro footballer of the year is 2nd place.
The closest Gerrard has been to becoming world player of the year is 4th place and the closest Lampard has gotten is 2nd place.

Ladies and Gentlemen the winner is ....(drum roll)... FRANK LAMPARD.

In my opinion:- Steven Gerrard is a spectacular player and obviously is one of the top players in the world, But just look at this season as an example, While Gerrard has been playing Liverpool did'nt lose one single match but guess what? Even when Gerrard is not playing they still win matches meaning they don't need Gerrard as much as Liverpool fans think(6-0thrashing of Derby without Stevie). And look at Chelsea this season, Lampard is their top goalscorer, As soon as he got injured Chelsea havent won a single match, So how can the other fans use the 'He's surrounded by better players' excuse, Lampard has been scoring around 20goals a season on average and roughly 10assists a season and all from the midfield!!! I would rather Lampard in ManU(i'm a ManU fan)But atm I would prefer Fabragas to both of them

GOOD GOD, I thought this thread was dead and buried finally. The arguments are circular and were all made in the first 100 or so posts. The rest is rehash.

You put Gerrard in Lampards role in Chelsea and he exceeds those figures, Lampard has had a star studded lineup around him for years. Gerrard hasn't. Lampard hangs around the edge of the box whilst others create for him, Gerrard is the creator. Lampard takes every free kick. Gerrard takes some. The amount of diving that the Chel$ki players do and get awarded spot kicks for also helps his tally climb.
