Lampard probably has more technical skills, but Gerrard has the ability to take over a game and put a team on his back. For that, I'd take Gerrard.
Both great players though.
Actually, I'd say Lampard is probably the better club player and Gerrard is the better international player.

Obviously, both are very good players. It's akin to comparing to good beers; sometimes I feel like a lager & sometimes I feel like a ale, just because I drink one today doesn't mean I won't enjoy the other one tomorrow.
If I were "drafting" a team and had a choice between the two I would probably take Gerrard, but only because he seems to do more with less around him than Lampard does.
Both players are a joy to watch for their clubs....and both players are painful to watch for their country.
Just my two cents.

In my opinion Gerrard is the better player all round but Lampard does get some stick that he just doesnt deserve. they are both a credit to the EPL though and the country!

Its a no brainer,Gerrard every time.Dont get me wrong Frank Lampard is a quality player and great at what he does,Chelsea could have almost any player in the world in there midfield,And they choose Lampard,So he is doing something right.Although he has been disappointing in an England shirt.
Stevie Gerrard is overall better than Lampard and for me its such a simple question,Hes so talismanic,Ive lost count of the times ive seen him single handedly get Liverpool by the scruff of the neck and produce a win.For me he seems much more comfortable on the ball,Better passer,Equal to Lampard at getting forward and scoring,Scores classier goals and is much much better at defending,So if i could sign one of the two it would be Gerrard.
On the question of them playing together for England,I feel they have been a big disappointmant.I just wonder if they could have a talk about maybe Gerrard staying further back and Lampard getting forward more,As Gerrard is the better defender of the two.

Not even close, Gerrard shows up for both club and nation matches. Lampard seems to dissappear when he plays for England.

I don't get where people get this idea that Gerrard is some kind of world-beater in an England shirt.... ya know, apart from The Sun.
Neither have been much cop for England in the last couple of years.

Gerrard, without a doubt.... Gerrard plays well for both club and country. Gerrard outhustles the lumbering Lampard by miles. Much more aggresive, and is relentless at tracking back on defense to try and win balls back. The choice is easy really.

Really?? Did you not watch the World Cup? Yes, he had a million chances, several fed to him on a silver platter, all to be mis-hit, or kicked 40 yards into the seats.. He has not performed well for England since the 2nd match against Poland in the W.C. quali's.
