If he wins it this year I'm for electing a new coach every year.

Oh, and we're gonna kick 7 british tonnes (they weigh more) of a$$.

Soehn is going to rest players, we're going to buy good players, we'll be fresh, more creative, and we will send to hospital many teams.

New coaches invigorate players (even though he really isn't all that new).
No one can let their feelings for Adu's bigger paycheck get in the way (they can still do this with Palermo or Crespo, but might feel those guys have earned it more).
Soehn is a class guy.
The Eagles and Barra will drink even more beer this coming year.
We will win MLS Cup in our own house (we're already the only ones to do that, no?)
We will score 3 goals in every game this coming year at least!
Josh Gros will be the best crosser in MLS
Troy Perkins will not get injured
All of our draft picks will kick ass in the reserve league and we will win that as well.
We will beat Chicago in the US Open Cup Final
We will get to the third round of the CCC and lose on a wildly controversial PK call.

But please, Spay or Neuter your cat, area kittens have recently lost a natural enemy.

(sorry - some of the players on these lists overlap but the lists are based on functions within the team) - (i'm also assuming Brian Carroll will not be returning but will find a place in Europe - We'll miss him for sure, yet I wish him the best for his sake and for all other US players trying to get a toe-hold in Europe - but I think others like Simms can step up into a consistent starting role and we'll be ok)

We got our MLS Best and MVP players returning - Perkins, Boswell and Gomez

We got our central core players who play down the middle returning -
Perkins, Boswell, Olsen, Simms Gomez and Moreno - If any of these guys were not returning I'd be very antsy

We got our Back Line and Defense returning - Perkins, Namoff, Boswell, Erpen, Simms and Olsen

And we got the Heart and Engine of our team returning - Olsen and Gomez

While we did lose a good young prospect to the Draft (and nothing in return in Dyanchenko) he WASN'T A STARTER !!

We lost one starter on the Wing (who was rather unidimensional in a position that demands at least 2 or 3), one back-up Goallee, and one Plan B defender (who may be our biggest trade loss) - And got lots of money and allocation and cap room in return

We lost a coach who re-instilled professionalism and pride and integrity into the team and who had the very highest standards for himself and the team and for the most part achieved those goals - But we are getting his assistant who appears to be every bit as professional and knowledgeable as his predescor (?)- ahhh nuts - the guy right before him

I feel pretty good - We just gotta move faster than other teams because we have a very important and tough series in late Feb & early March -

But we have time and (will have) extra resources to get the right players - Besides cash and cap room and allocations from the trades, we will get sponsorship money from our jerseys and perhaps additional cash from the new owners who should be announced near the beginning of the year

I feel good - I feel real good

I am optimistic because I am sure that Soehn can do better than the 3W-8L-6T record that Nowak had in MLS regular season and playoff games since July 22.

Sorry, that's not good enough. We will win the CCC, and then in 2007 we will upset the European team in FCWC.

I think we see some immediate results of this move in the draft. TS has been an assistant for 6 years and won a Reserve league title. I'm sure he's much more in tune with the young American player than Nowak ever was. And we have all our picks, if I'm not mistaken.

Is this the happy go licky thread? Shouldn't this be over in the Metros board?

I always preferred One Last Wish or Rites of Spring, but if folks want to go all experimental with Happy Go Licky, by my guest.

Wow, this thread has fallen waaaaay down the boards. I Wonder why? :D

OK, boys and girls, time to up the optimism factor a bit. In Kaspar and Payne we trust... they'll come through for us. New, big-time players (yes that's right plural) plus new ownership plus retaining Soehn plus deft political manuvering to keep up on course for poplar point... there's more good than bad here, even if there is a little too much turnover for comfort just now.

People need to lighten up. United traded 2 starters. Just 2. Not half the team like most are responding. We still have 9 starters with 5 of those called into USMNT camp. We have a new coach that has 6 more years of coaching experience than Nowak did when he got the job. And we have some high caliber South American talent showing up in just a few weeks. I for one am very excited and pleased that the FO is serious about upgrading talent to compete in the CCC and everything that follows that. Go DC United!

With all the positive waves coming out of this offseason, they should just give it to us.

You know, another STAR. :D
