We are so screwed.
New coach, half of a roster remaining, No SSS, and far too many kittens running around now...
Crap crap crap. :(

I think we are the exact opposite of screwed. I can't wait for the season to start.

Mike, you're not exactly getting into the spirit of this thread.

Jeremy Eritre: his optimism is every one else's pessimism. ;)
If you only wanted to post in the Optimism thread, we could just turn this into a "Make fun of Jeremy's reading comprehension" thread :)

Man, we'll be playing on a dirt field by the end of the year. Pull the plug. It was a grand experiment but we're dooomed!

Gaaak! Not this shit again!
Man, the offseason just sucks.

Don't know if this is pessimistic or not but it seems to me our season hangs on whether the new signee(s) from South America fit in well. Too obvious?
Don't feel good having Gros still in midfield - if he goes to D who are going to have in midfield that's ready to start? If we lose Carroll, we have Christian, and aging Ben, ineffective Gros(?)...ok getting to the pessimism...not to mention nobody up front who can score.
Tommy has his work cut out for him. I'm prepared to give him a LOT of slack.
Rebuilding year, lucky to make playoffs in 07.

Every year the off season gets worse. All of the good ideas were tapped out back in 1999 - 2000. Since then we're just living in the glory years of 1998 - 2000.
So, where do we sign up to the Word Association thread part 465...

I'm serious. I can even think of eleven players on the roster to trot out for the CCC. And how will Tommy know where to find his office. I mean he was only the assistant coach for such a long time???
Jaime is waaay past his sell by date and Gomito is just gracing us with his presence, he doesn't really care about DCU. Esky will never regain his scoring touch and Adu was really always the answer in midfield.
I'm going to start supporting the Galaxy.
Frankfurt, not LA, of course.

Of course, the great thing about being a pessimist is that the season can't possibly be as bad as the offseason supposed it to be...
Unless you're Red Bull New York.

There are certain scientific principles on which the Universe was founded, and that is one of them (too bad Arena did not learn this with his Ivy league education).

The way we're trading players away, we might not even have 11 players left by then, even assuming everyone manages to catch the flight to the game and remembers their passports, which you can't take for granted.

Could someone post the current roster so I could see how many players DC United has on the team? Right now, I feel that if they held a team meeting, only the janitors would show up.

This is truly the hard part about waiting for the January transfer window to open, while also preparing for the CCC. We have lots of new players to integrate (assuming we find lots of new players...) while getting the team used to a new coach. When's the MLS super-draft thingamabob?

Arggghghggg
The whole "sure we sucked during the second half of the season, but at least we won the SS and can play in international competitions," this optimism is DONE.
Our team is GONE. The DCU that won the supporters shield is no more.
If they change the color scheme I am DONE.

Sorry bro. He was traded to Houston for a chicken.
