I know it's early, but does anyone know if FSW is happy with the MLS arrangement after 2 weeks?

Are the ratings what they had hoped for both games and MLS Wrap? Has the response from the viewers been mostly positive?

Judging by the way they plead for people to send in their e-mails, I'm guessing they just want more of a response from their viewers, positive or negative.

It's still too early to tell.

The funny thing is, I tried, but their email link doesn't work.

I sent an email to the larger FSW site telling them of the problem, but I have no idea if they've fixed it.

this may be against the mainstream, but the channel is Fox Sports World.... i would rather they put on nationwide div 1 english football than MLS.. let this stay on local network broadcasts......personally i have no care to watch the mls... so saturday nights i would rather watch the rebroadcast of the Premiership match rather than a mls game... for me this detracts from the channel... i would rather they have another international sporting event rather than the mls.

Go back to France, GloryHound

Actually that is overstepping it a bit.

Kindly close your flan-hole.

This is the United States. FSW is based in the US. We would prefer to watch our own league.

My guess is that FoxSportsWorld is in it for MLS's advertisers and corporate partners/sponsors moreso than its fans.

They basically said as much. What broadcasting MLS games does is that it give FSW a foot in the door to companies like Honda, Budweiser, Gatorade...

These companies have more advertising pocket change than Ener-X and KidzBopp likely have in total revenues. The ability to tap into those money streams is what FSW is after.

I think you shot yourself in the foot with your argument. Because it is Fox Sports WORLD, it should show soccer from across the WORLD, not just Europe and South America. Thus having MLS makes it MORE of a WORLD channel and not a regional one. Prior to MLS they had one regular North American broadcast (A-League game) now they have two. They have how many European leagues (England, Germany, Scotland, plus UEFA cup action that I can think of) and South American broadcasts (Brazil, Aregentina, Chile, any others)? So there are still less North American broadcasts than European or South American ones.

Good point. I wasn't looking at it from a business perspective, but rather as a fan. I think you probably hit the nail on the head. Although hopefully they did it a little bit for the U.S. soccer fans.

Yeah, but if we have many more games like that DCU-Chicago nightmare, showing MLS on FSW may make all of us eurosnobs.

I was there in person, and I'm amazed at some of the calls around here for rebroadcasts of the game. sheesh.

...as well as provides summer programming, which has been lacking in the past.

Actually they've been doing better with the AFL, the A-League, and their library of classic early-90s cricket Test and ODI matches.

It may be too early to tell is FSW is happy with MLS fans and viewership, but it is safe to say MLS fans are happy with FSW.

love the personal attacks....
really classy...and articulate...

***************

that be said... if you are an MLS fan you have more than an opportunity to watch YOUR soccer.. between abc, espn and regional telecasts AND the option of the shootout package there is plenty of your soccer on the tube... FSW should show something else... i would rather they spend their money on serie a, or sublicencing a better la liga match.... i spend money for the full EPL package, I and the others that do, including the expatriate pubs, are the reason FSW is still in business... FSW would not exist without it... so think twice before put your MLS on its pedestal....

*****************
by the way ... i will spend some time in france this summer... au revoir...

Except, of course, for those who complain about the announcers and the quality MLS Wrap, but what have the Romans ever done for us?

They have been, but each of those are only shown on one night. The A-League is Friday, cricket is Monday (almost all day), and I don't recall when AFL is. MLS gives programming for Saturday nights.

Since we're polling how happy everyone is - I was very happy with this last summer. Hope it returns. If you need me, I'll be in France.

Personally, I have very little interest in MLS. However, I have watched it more this year already just because its on FSW and not just on ESPN2. I think any exposure both FSW and MLS can get from their agreement is great for both sides. In fact, I just heard a Philly radio station broadcast a spot for FSW featuring MLS. That's a good sign!
