And what are the biggest pros if upgrading from XP? And how long before the new pc's and laptops start shipping with it installed?

If you cant be helpful enough to post a link or answer a question then why bother. I'm sure someone more helpful will come along, thanks anyways.

You asked three questions -

Q: When exactly is Vista coming out?
A: It's already out.

Q: What are the biggest pros if upgrading from XP?
A: Microsoft's official site has answers to just about anything you could imagine about Vista versus XP. That's why they created the site.

Q: How long before the new pc's and laptops start shipping with it installed?
A: New PCs and laptops are shipping with it installed right now.

If that's not helping you, you might want to ask different questions.

I'm sure you realize that that's a completely different question than the ones you started this thread with.

I've been using it on my laptop since RC1 (release candidate 1) shipped. I think the user interface improvements are significant, and that it gives a much better user experience. I also like the fact that all the media stuff is integrated in the "Ultimate" edition (which is what I have installed).

It's been out for years. It's just been called 'Mac OSX'

The PC guy in those commercials seems a lot more friendly than Mac guy. Mac guy seems like a smarmy prick.

:D

That's the same reaction I get when I think of Windoze.

While it's true that pre-final copies can be obtained now, the final edition of the home versions (there is a basic version and a premium version similar to XP) should be on shelves in late January 2007. Also available now is a version for offices and other places requiring purchase of several licenses.

I would think that new computers should start shipping with Vista pre-installed soon after, if not almost immediately.

I think it's very different. It took some getting used to at first.

As far as "mucho apps" running at once, I never really had a problem with that in XP. It could be because my laptop has 2GB of memory, which helps.

Oh, and the reason I sent you to the MS link in the first place was because I knew the Mac fanboys would have nasty stuff to say about it no matter what. :)

I'm running the final version of it right now. I have an MSDN Universal subscription. The final version is shipping, at least to MSDN subscribers.

OS 10.5 Leopard, it is.

It was supposed to come out alongside vista, I don't know what Apple's doing...

No idea. I'm a Windows programmer. I pretty much ignore the Mac.
