congrats to everyone. A little shocked to see Gros and Namoff on that list, but should be a nice experience nonetheless. Heck, this keeps 6 starters in top-game shape.

Troy Perkins
Bobby Boswell
Bryan Namoff
Brian Carroll
Joshua Gros
Alecko Eskandarian
Good for Bryan. This is his first call-up to a U.S. camp, isn't it?
And, yes, a nice jump on pre-season fitness for DC United.

And, yes, a nice jump on pre-season fitness for DC United. That's the best thing about this. To be honest though, I'm a bit surprised about 3 of the people on the list, but this is MAJORLY helpful for us in terms of our needs in the CCC.

Bradley is trying to expand the player pool, give some guys a chance, and find some surprises. I think Gors' speed will mean he gets called again. Not the most skilled, but can harass for 90 straight minutes.
This is typical Arena stuff, which one should expect from Bradley.
Good for them, though. They're officially Nats, all of 'em. :)

Isn't it nice to have a thread on this particular subject, and not have to discuss the fact that He-who-is-not-to-be-named didn't get the call-up? That's another team's problem now. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
And no, this doesn't count as discussing it. This is one of those nice-meta posts.

The only thing annoying here is that you responded by writing "Don't be annoying".
<sigh>
Please move any further discussion on the subtopic to RSL boards.
In the meantime....
I was pleasantly surprised to see Esky on the list. We have representation in each area of the pitch. As others have noted, that bodes well for fitness; it also bodes well for additional tactical growth.
CCC here we come!

I'm more interested in seeing (when the time for it comes of course) just which Europe-based players will get the call. Looking forward to seeing Nguyen, Pearce, Brown, Feilhaber, DeMerit, Hort, et all get a chance to prove themselves along side the stateside guys, as well as see if we extend invitations to guys like Fearrington to see if they are good enough to be considered for us rather than let him slip through the cracks to other NTs.

Why not, put this baby to rest once and for all
Nice to see Namoff on the list. IMO, the most underrated player in MLS.

I was happy as well. My initial thought was that Bradley is looking for versatility.

I think Gros' call-up is long overdue.

1. Mods--any chance we can get the world "implications" in the title of this thread somehow? I mean, it is mostly about the implications of the NT camp for DC United....
2. I think Gros is a natural callup for this camp much like Arena used Richie Williams. For a bunch of guys struggling to get into shape, you know Gros will show up motoring around the field, raise the tempo and probably intensity of practice. might even make the team roster.
3. I'm not surprised at Namoff. You've got a couple of other defender candidates with injuries or off-season surgeries. Even though Namoff is a rookie callup, he's actually one of the more experienced defenders in camp (Bornstein, Parkhurst, Dasan Robinson as just three examples). Plus he's versatile.
4. I think Carroll is an excellent candidate to stick. Why? He's just spent 2 weeks tooling around Europe but wasn't doing it on Eurorail with a backpack. He should be close to match fit already.
Last of all, I think this has major implications for our team and the CCC. I'm not worried about preseason in general. But this means not only conditioning but the possibility of TWO matches for some of our guys against teams that are already match-fit, not other MLS teams still rounding into shape.

Good luck guys, but not so much luck that we don't have you for most of the summer. :)
