It's about that time for post-season balloting. I'd like to know who you feel was our best player based on this season's body of work. If you are conflicted, explain.
My vote goes to Murphy. Gerrard and Owen both had lengthy stretches of mediocrity. Jerzy had a couple of big whoopsies to blemish an otherwise solid campaign, and Hyypia didn't look quite as dominant as in years past.
What say you?

Danny Murphy has been our most consistant player and he gets my vote.

Still Spuds over the whole year. The winner at Goodison does it for me.

I suppose this answers that "Who is the best LFC player other than Owen" thread as well.

Not necessarily. Danny has had an OUTSTANDING campaign, but I feel Steven Gerrard is a better footballer. Stevie would have recieved my vote if I had been hibernating and missed the November and December fixtures. However, Murphy has been a consistently solid performer throughout the year, and was perhaps the only player still clicking along during the dry spell. In fact, if his spark had left the team, we might still be in the doldrums right now.
I think Stevie has better prospects than Spuds, both short and long term. Danny will still be a workhorse, but I am expecting it will be Stevie's magic that boosts us up into the top four in these closing fixtures. (And I'm not just grounding that in the Charlton result.)

I suppose this thread should have been called Minus Murphys, [sic] who is the best Red?

Or in my case, "most valuable" would have been the better choice of words to describe Murphy. He is the one player you can rely on to operate at a high level on a weekly basis and seems to have a nose for important goals.
But you're right, in terms of pure quality, Stevie is ahead of Spuds. And I'm rambling so I'll stop.

LOL! Your usual impeccable timing. His worst game in a red shirt has barely ended, in this, his worst season in a red shirt and the fount of all that is incredibly stupid has him as the LFC player of the year.
You utter, utter moron.

Matt, if you'd get off the he's anti English rant, you might see where I am coming from. I've had enough of this abuse. I'm out of here.

Is this the same bloke who played football with every World Cup winner between 1930 and 2002 in the NASL?
