Ernest Anastasio was stopped at 3:30 a.m. by Patrolman Andrew Mija who said the musician was observed to be under the influence of a narcotic substance after failing field testing, Patrolman Jeff Whalen said this morning.
Anastasio lives in Vermont, which is just over the border from this Washington County community. Whalen said he had a suspended driver's license in New York and allegedly was found with an assortment of prescription medications including hydrocodone, Percocet and Xanax, which were prescribed for another person.
Anastasio was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and DWI - drugs, Whalen said. He was released from custody with appearance tickets for a later date.
I hope he hears the wake-up call.

Dumbass Trey.
It's been 8 or 10 years of problems and he hasn't been totally honest about what he was doing. Looking at that list of prescribed stuff, either that was part of the problem or he was trying to sidestep- avoid- what was the problem.

He just needed some street cred, that's all.
Isn't Trey the one who snorted repeatedly from an anthill-size mound of cocaine during Phish's marathon New Year's 2000 show in Florida?

He's got a wife and kids.
Dunno bout the Florida story, that substance was most likely the original problem.

FWIW, I have a friend who was a die-hard Phish fan. Spent every summer following them on tour, etc. (I'm sure he still loves their music and all; the past tense is only because they're no more).
One year, he hooked up with a groupie while following them around Europe, and by virtue of being with this hot chick, was able to get himself backstage partying with the band. Thing is--he ended up wishing he hadn't. My friend's no prude about sexual matters, but the blatantly mercenary attitude those married guys had towards all the sexually available women backstage really put him off.
Aporpos of nothing, of course. I don't care about Phish or this guy at all, so I haven't a clue what his previous issues were. The guy has a problem?

Threads merged. Sorry. I missed your thread. The title was too clever for my dull brain.

The rumors were cocaine, powder and smoked, and oxycontin/oxycodone use especially by Trey, brought about the end of the band. There was some denials, but I never believed the denials much, now you can be sure the rumors were true. Trey is a very smart fellow and lays a good smokescreen. I knew him in high school and after. Not a huge fan, I only went to about 5 "shows". The band seemed to be nice guys.
