OK, just to make things clear: I am a 21 year old student with next to no money to call my own.

Should I join the wait-list now under the assumption that I won't get the chance to purchase season tickets for years and years?

How absurd would it be for me to join the list? How long is it going to be taking?

Rick or Mike may be able to answer this more definitively, but the list remains long for season ticket opportunities. You can join the Red Membership Scheme for Arsenal, which earns you a membership card and allegedly, a membership pack that few of us have received as of yet.

The Red Membership puts you on the bottom of a long list. Luckily, if you live in the USA, you can join Arsenal America at http://www.arsenalamerica.com and take advantage of the opportunities for tickets that we are lucky to have.

The last I heard it was between 8 - 10 years.
(Commit a bank robbery to pay for it, and you should be out in time to pay for it!!). :D

The list is about 25-30,000 last I knew. In the final years of Highbury, only about 200 people moved off the list.

However, effective next year, people who are Season Ticket holders & Silver Membership holders will have to give up one or the other. There could be quite a bit of movement next year.

It took me 7 years to get off the wait list, but when I joined there was only about 20,000 people and that was before AG opened.

Still, better to join Red for now. You'll get a chance to buy tickets several times during the year.

In fact more, Red membership has allowed people to buy tickets for EVERY single game including Spurs and Man U.

Given the following specifics about my situation, does anyone (particularly the knowledgeable people who posted above) have any advice to share:

I will be teaching at a boarding school in the south of England for the entirety of next year (Sept-Jue) and possibly the next academic year as well. There are a lot of weekend breaks and then are also few-week long breaks scattered about the year as well. Basically, I'll have a chance to attend a lot of matches (including CL away) if I have the tickets. Since I'm really only going to be in th UK temporarily, I'll still be eligible for Arsenal America tickets, right? No sense in joining Red membership, but might as well put myself on the season ticket wait-list since it's going to be who-knows-how-long til I get off it?

Is this a fact? Is this officially stated by Arsenal anywhere on their web site? Or can someone point me to the official source, thanks.

Get on the list as soon as possible. Its gonna be a good 10 years before you get to the top of the list.

I am a season ticket holder. I was wondering where this info came from regarding having to chose between silver membership and gold next season.

This info is correct. The only people allowed to hold both will be Supporters Clubs.

It is on the Arsenal Membership website. Hmm...let me see if I can find it. I just saw it for the first time the other day....

Hmm...ok, it is in there because I emailed the following to someone about the new policy:

Membership Transparency
When Gold level memberships become available these are offered to those on the season ticket waiting list. Please note the season ticket waiting list is not a level of membership. To join the season ticket waiting list costs £15 which is refunded within your first season ticket purchase.

*As of Season 2007/08, if someone on the season ticket waiting list is invited to join Gold level membership he or she will be asked to relinquish his/her silver or red level membership should he/she hold this prior to the application being processed. Likewise, if a Red level member is invited to join Silver level they can do so only by relinquishing their red level membership.

The Club endeavours to let red level members know their approximate numerical position in awaiting a silver level upgrade prior to membership renewals for season 2007/08..

Thanks for the info. Although it does imply that for now only silver members moving up to gold will be asked to relinquish their silvers. Unless the club starts cross-referencing all it's existing Season Ticket holders with Silver Memberships. Which I guess it might well do in future.

They have started doing that from 3 seasons ago to make sure Silvers and Golds didn't apply for away games more than once and if they did then they asked why. Everything will be cross referanced in the summer to get rids of the double memberships.

I guess i don't see the point in joining the waiting list for season tickets unless you think you might move to the UK permanently. I would think that a red membership and joining the away scheme would probably be the way to go if you want to go to games over the next year or two.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of movement next year. All those tossers who booed the team off at half-time will give up their "status symbol".

... and surely the twat that made the Comment of the Year" will be vacating his seat:

"I'm giving it until 25 minutes from the end and if they (sic!) haven't scored I'm off"

What we need is the supporter equivalent of an enema!

That pissed me off. I was standing there on a bulkhead (17 I think) and I clapped but everyone just booed. Do they think Arsenal conceded that goal because they wanted to?

So, am I correct to assume that in the future, us ArsenalAmericans, will probably need to be Red members to get access to tickets?
