I wonder why Arsene has never taken a look at Joey. He is a big intimidating midfielder that plays with a chip on his shoulder. I think he would be an upgrade over Gilberto. I think he is the closest thing the EPL is going to see to a young Roy Keane. This guy is also a future captain for England.

heh, not really. he would no way be an upgrade of gilberto, gilberto is world class and in my opinion the best in his position at the moment in the world.
barton is a shit version of flamini.

Barton doesn't sit back behind the other mids, so he's not a replacement for Bert. I would prefer him to some of the squad players (Matty, Diaby, Song). But there's no way Barton would make an XI ahead of Cesc or Bert. Besides, with Hleb and Rosicky both more than capable of playing centrally, were stacked at CM.

i like Barton a lot... and Roy Keane comparisions are correct, imo... I also liked his comments shytting on the English players who wrote autobiographies... much love to Barton...
and no, Barton is box to box... him and Cesc would conflict, but he is not like Gilberto... and I love Gilberto but if you say Barton has no skills, then what are you saying about Gilberto

I just think that our Midfield is way to soft. All of our player up front are finesse players. Flamini does play with a little fire, but Bert, Cesc, and Hleb are basically technical finesse players. Rosicky has a little grit, but he is a bit of a runt on the outside. I think Barton would fit perfectly with Rosicky, Cesc and Baptista. Sell Hleb. He had a good run at the beginning of the year, but he had done nothing spectacular in the last 10 games.

I would definitely have to disagree with the "Bert is a technical finesse player" statement...

Because Barton is a low class piece of shit. He's a yob. Didn't you read about him verbally assaulting a female steward a few months ago? Or using a young teamates eyeball as an ashtray for his cigar? That's not the kind of player Wenger wants associated with Arsenal. Plus the fact that his brother is a racist axe murderer probably doesn't look good either.

You actually think Hleb is better than Rosicky, Baptista, Gilberto, Flamini? Hleb is extremely inconsistent.

Infact, I think he keeps better possession than any other player here .. Better than Cesc too .. His ability to fake 2-3 defenders crowding over him and even beat then or make a great short pass in a tight angle .. You see people like Ronaldinho or Henry do stuff like that .. His inability to do long passes makes him incomplete .. But otherwise, i'd say he's been one of hte best players for us this season .. Him linking up with Cesc, or Eboue, our right side of midfield has become pretty strong .. He plays an active role, making those crazy runs which Cesc's through balls always[almost] find him ..

Hleb has been a bust. Accept it.

What position would that be? Best Brazilian central midfielder at Arsenal?

Wenger on Jose (http://arsenal-mania.com/articles/3103323/Arsenal-boss-dismisses-Mourinho-jibe.html) ..
Wenger said: "They [Chelsea] usually put the result first.
"That is why this comment is, for me, of no real interest or of any substance because it is not linked with their ambition to play at all."
See what Wenger says ?! Goals do get results .. But it's football Wenger's trying to improve .. Everyone, including me and Hleb too, accept scoring goals is an area he has to improve .. He's just an assist maker .. And making an assist is as important as scoring a goal , did you know ?!

I was previously a lurker on bigsoccer...99% of my time in the Arsenal forum(s). That is, until seeing these Hleb comments.
I was just discussing w/ someone the other day that Hleb (IMO) wins 50/50 balls and keeps possession as well as anyone on the squad. That was something I felt was extremely apparent in the Chelsea match (just to give an example.) I recall a number of situations where it seemed that he was going to be closed down or dispossessed and he ended up finding a way out of danger and either dribbling productively or finding an open man.
And to be a bit more general, I feel that Hleb has been one of our most impressive players this season.
Sell Hleb. (and) You Disagree? He loses more posessions than than Theo.

Sell Hleb, you are kidding right.... just cost us 13mill!
I think alot of people stil dont realise the he is playing out of position, and is stil adapting to the wider position.
Honestly, i'd love the guy to use his pace, take the ball to the byline and whip one across the face of the goal, just once....

Right on! Just like I said not too long ago, Hleb gives so much to the team in terms of grit, workrate, and ball-winning ability. We could have really used him at Bolton. I have no idea why people cast him off as 'finesse' and not a physical presence. Also, his ability to turn with the ball under pressure using the inside of his foot in either direction is a sight to behold. He cuts it tighter and quicker than Fabregas even.
The only knock on him is his finishing ability (actually, save his skyjob on the weekend, he has good technique just not the mentality). But Furball, this is not news. You just have to live with the fact that he won't score at the rate Pires did, and accordingly he probably won't be named the best player in England either. He is still a tremendous asset to this team though.
