I think we all pretty much knew this, but until the FA or UEFA put a salary cap, nothing will ever happen or Arsenal need to offer more public shares. Don't tell me that there isn't some rich guy somewhere in the world that likes Arsenal????

i read sometime ago that one of Abranowitsches mates wanted to take over Arsenal. It luckaly failed at a very early stage.
I'm proud of Arsenal not having a rich Inverstore that doesn't give a shit about football and only thinks of profit. We'll probably be one of the only bigger clubs in england that doesn't have a multi millionaire at the top. Good work Dein!

Agree with Wenger on this point. Arsenal's ability to compete for titles and cups would fall pretty quick if we faced another couple of financially doped clubs. I think people overlook the fact that we'd already be in pretty serious danger if it wasn't for Wenger's ability to find top quality on the cheap. Another manager without the skill would likely not have found most of our cheap highly talented kids and probably couldn't attract the Cesc's of the world either. Imagine Arsenal without those players, without Wenger's eye for talent and worldwide scouting contacts, and now add the transfer limits we have because of the stadium and its hard to see how the club would field a team that could consistently get a CL spot against another few clubs willing to lose 100m every season. Even with our bright crop of reserve players to add to the team in coming seasons it wouldn't take more than another couple Chelski clones to knock us down the table for years.
We'll have to see how the next few years go. Hopefully profit hungry owners, mismanagement, the small pool of Abramovich-level rich guys with an interest in losing cash on football, etc will take care of this problem for us. It isn't like the FA, UEFA, or Fifa will do anything on this issue. They're too busy worrying about which months to play football in, trying to break european labor rules with a stupid quote system, etc.

Let's not forget FIFA quest against the biggest problem facing the game today...pulling your shirt over your head when you score. When will the madness end?!?!?!

Actually, I used to create tons of threads all over BS, but with 2 young daughters (4yo and 1yo) and limited time. I just read here and there. 1 more thing, having a different opinion isn't always welcome on BS.

But of course the flip side of that is stability. If the rich guy suddenly goes to gaol or the poor house, you're club goes down the toilet.
The problem here isn't so much that a sugardaddy bankrolls your club, but that these crooks are pumping cash in beyond reason, that is, beyond any manageable business model.
And its frankly much more interesting to watch how Wenger negotiates the needs of the club on the pitch and the bank. He's not just the greatest coach in the world, but also the smartest manager.

I know, I know. But not every rich guy is a manic with his money and poor investor!
P.S. I know that Wenger has a Masters Degree in Economics.
He is excellent with managing Arsenal's money, but often he may border on being tight with money. I'm guessing I just don't know the whole financial picture of Arsenal and that is why I feel he hasn't splashed at all in the last 4 years.

Couldn't help but find this article amusing. Wenger needs to stfu and allow himself to breathe, since the lack of oxygen seems to be affecting his brain. He's complaining about a lack of Englishmen being interested in purchasing English clubs, yet he is managing an English team, that doesn't field any English players (at least last time I cared enough to check). Wasn't it also Wenger that was complaining about Defensive football not so long ago, yet in the Champion's League final, his defense was so clenched up like the buttocks of a prisoner in some penitentiary, who's just realized that he dropped the soap.

Nice red herring on the quote above. Anyways WTF does fielding foreigners and speaking out against foreign investment have to do with one another?

I would rep you a 1,000 times if I could.
What in the world???
Didn't we beat this English-only vs. Arsenal (The French club/foreign club with a French manager) to DEATH???

Changing my avatar takes 2 seconds....reading posts and entire threads to add my 2 cents takes much longer....lol. I drink plenty.
Flying Dog is my current microbrew brewery recommendation.
I got their holiday variety pack, quite good. They are out of Colorado.

Are you serious?
Seems to me that losing half a billion dollars over the past 2 years is not thinking of profit. Seems Abromavich could be accused of thinking of anything but profit.
I think your post should be directed more towards Manusa and the Glazier takeover.
