For everyone going to this game I thought I'd say the following.......the very helpful and considerate Transport for London have very intelligently decided that the Metropolitan Tube line which is the only one that goes to Watford will not be going to Watford on Boxing Day and will instead terminate at Moor Park. Even more helpfully National Rail will not be running any overground trains to Watford either. Therefore Transport for London are very helpfully telling everyone who wants to go by Public Transport to call 08457 484950 where they will be told there are no other options.

I used to be a fan of the tube but the past few weeks it has been an absolute joke. For the Tottenham game going from Marble Arch to Holborn onthe central line to catch the Piccadilly line I got stuck at Bond Street for 20 minutes. I decided to just leave Bond Street and get a cab but that ended up costing me 10 pounds (around 20 US dollars). Ridiculous but worth it for that game. Going to Chelsea also we got stuck in between Earls Court and West Brompton for 25 mins. I still don't have that many problems though usually.

Watford's only 2 stops from Moor Park! A little walk won't hurt, especially after a big Christmas meal.;)

You silly English. You want everything handed to you an no inconvenience. :D

Rick - seeing as you're doing the travel news can you give me an update on public transport options from Manchester?

Whenever I go to watch the Saracens play, I go on the Abbey Line which goes to Watford Junction from St Albans. Walk it from there only 20 mins to half hour. I also am pretty sure the Abbey line goes from Hackney, so just get a train to there and jump on the Abbey line. Alternativley you could get the train to St Albans, do the 30 minute walk from St Albans station to the Abbey Line station (or taxi it) and go from there.

National Rail (which includes the Abbey Line) is not working on Boxing Day as I stated in my first post.

wouldn't be surprised if they left from outside the Grove, drove around the corner, and then stopped so people could get some tea and scrumpets...

Every year I am p!ssed off about the fact that there is a match in Boxing Day!

Why I ask?!

Christmas is a time of relaxing..which is exactly what I don't do when Arsenal play! I watch La Liga to relax, but they have a break instead!:(

I know what you mean. Thanksgiving would be a great holiday if I didn't have to worry about the Cowboys game.

Because in the good old days football was the game of the working classes. So Boxing day was one of the few days that they were able to go! They also used to play on Christmas Day (until 1959), although Arsenal never played at home on that day because of an agreement with The Church of England when we bought the land.

That's also the reason why games traditionally kick off at 3 pm on a saturday as saturday was a half day working day. Never mind - Come the revolution.....!
