There are instructions on your crayon box. You won't need the Dutch to translate, as they're in English.
Keep it real. Keep it American.

I lived there for a year. I can't help you any with this but I thought I'd contribute anyway I can.

Is there a reason you want to go to Holland? I don't know much about art schools over there but my experience is that Europeans kids come to the US for art schools, not vice versa.
You could hit joints like SVA (NY), Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, CA) or Cal Arts without leaving US shores.

Maybe some people want to leave the country? A lot of art was created overseas however...

I'm all for experiencing other cultures, but if your priority is getting good art education, why wouldn't you pick a school that you know for sure that is going to be good, without the hassles of getting visas, finding housing, etc? American art schools do have a good reputation overseas.
There will be plenty of opportunities to go abroad later, and business stuff is much easier to take care of when you're working.

I agree with skip. From the people I know that have been abroad for art they've said in general that European art school are waaaaaaay more conservative than American art schools.

Corazon, I read your post on humane capitalism in Politics.
I apologize for the crayon remark.

I want to go to Amsterdam because it seems like a very diverse place. I also want to take in influences from other cultures and one way to do that is by studying abroad and from what I hear, Amsterdam is the place to be if you're and artist in Europe. London is a good place too, but I just aint feeling London.
I already go to school here and prob will get my masters here anyways so Im not missing out on anything. My plan is just to go there for a year or two and come back.

Word of warning from someone who has been through it (studied 4 years abroad) - there's a pretty good chance you won't ever fully 'come back' - at least not mentally.

I don't know anything about art schools in Amsterdam or the rest of Holland, but I lived and worked in Amsterdam for 6 months after college. I LOVED it. It is a wonderful city, and it is a wonderful experience to live there. If you are going for the drugs and prostitution, save yourself the wasted time. If you are going to immerse yourself in another culture (cultures plural, as it really is a pretty diverse place) and live in a truly wonderful city, then you can not do any better than Amsterdam.

One game out of 101 and he's already forgotten our tallest and only dutch ESC supporter (think West Ham). Sad, man.
Also, RISD is pretty good, and there is even a school for design in Bethlehem, PA, IIRC, close enough to attend Metro matches on the weekend.
In all seriousness, throw a post on the Holland board with [NSR] in the title. I don't think they'd boot you.
