Great news-I suspect Sonko is a player a lot of teams would want, and to have him commited to staying with Reading until 2010 is huge.

And at worst, his eventual exiting price tag probably went up.

The timing of these signings is perfect. They're doing well, but it's too early for any one player (with possibly the exception of Sidwell) to get a big head. Let's hope they can stay together for a while.

agree, massive signing, as he's proving to be a high quality prem player. Must say I've been impressed with sids. He hasn't signed, but he says all the right things. Really don't want to lose him, but can't complain about the level of performance or effort this season.

I agree with you on Sidwell. I'd like him to stay, but you can't blame him for looking to better his own situation if the chance arises. And he's putting in his all this season - he has to know he's in the window, so it makes all the sense in the world.
In the end, though, you want players that want to stay. Reading World interviewed Sonko after his signing and he just put it as Reading is my home, the Club is a wonderful big family, I want to stay and play. If you have a squad of quality players with that attitude... watch out!

After speculation here and elsewhere, it's interesting to here Sonko say he'd (probably) answer a call up from Senegal. Act quick France, before your chance is gone.

Well he is 25. If he wants to play in a World Cup, and it is pretty obvious that Frace isn't going to call him up, he needs to start playing for Senegal now and help them qualify.

Is there a cup of nations this year?
If he continues to improve at the rate he has, France may well want him. Senegal, however, has asked him back time and again. I think they're a lot more interested, and if he feels a connection to senegal, they'd probably be a better gig.

The next ACN is in early 2008. No real important games for Senegal until then, as far as I know. He probably has until next year to wait on France.

thanx for the list Katsbox, i was actually wondering about it recently and you read my mind and posted it for me, saving me the time and effort! :)
glad Sonko signed. those who get down, and stuck in and work hard shall be rewarded as they say. get stuck in with Reading for a another season or two Sonko, and hopefully will benefit from it, rather than a premature leave to an uncertain future at another club.
(bye bye De La Cruz, dont call us, we wont be calling you ;))

Yea, I'm actually surprised how little De La Cruz has been used. He hasn't really done that good, though, so I guess he doesn't really deserve anymore playing time.
