The band, named after a book about edgy sex practices in the 1960s, was fueled by Moe Tucker's hard-driving drumming, John Cale's anxious viola, and lead singer Lou Reed, whose lyrics spoke of drug-induced beauty and gritty Lower East Side realities.

What was Sterling Morrison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sterling_Morrison), chopped liver?

My brother had a copy of that. I thought it was unlistenable. Goes to show what I know I guess. But then again, I think 'Selling England by the Pound' is the greatest ever.

I'll be shocked if the $155k is ever ponied up.

??? I own and listen to both... sometimes even on the same day. Doesn't seem confusing at all.

This reminds me of High Fidelity, when a woman tries to sell her cheating husband's record collection for close to no money.

I'm with this guy, Genesis back when Phil Collins was a drummer was an excellent band

And Sterling Morrison was chopped liver. My favorite anecdote for him was when he disparaged Lou Reed for becoming a 'competent' musician. That drummer of theirs was pretty awful, too.

Why is that, because she couldn't do a 5 hour drum solo like Phil Collins?

Maureen Tucker had one of the most unique drumming styles in rock. Just because she didn't show off doesn't mean she's bad.

How did The Marshall Tucker Band make it's way on to a VU thread?

If you check the article, it's not the album, it's an acetate of it.
