It's not inevitable. Not even close. I can't remember who it was now, but there's that famous quote from some Spanish pundit about the likelihood of Real Madrid being allowed to go bust - something along the lines of "the banks will go to the wall first".

I think, though it has been ignored (Amazingly) in this thread, it is in great part a work permit issue. Under the 75% rule how many USNATS can go play EPL? Ten? I bet not 15. Americans who can evade the rule for work permits tend to show up there more easily: Hahnemann, Feuer, Kirovski.

that rule is always carried out. However if a player appeals (eg juninho) they usually are allowed to sign depending on the player usually and if they will bring anything to the club and place...(something like that)
