Anyone seen either of these shows? Lest Stroud (Survivorman) is entertaining and brilliant in the ways of survival, but Bear Grylls blows him away except for the fact that Bear does not carry any camera gear. They are both nuts.

I didn't like what little I saw of Survivorman, but I totally love Man vs. Wild. Maybe it's just the accent.

I'm quite a fan of both.

I always seem to catch these shows on reruns. Both are good entertainment but Man vs Wild hypes up the "adventure" aspect while Survivorman concentrates on the "death and serious injury are bad" point of view. So Bear Grylls goes around taking all manner of risks that Les Stroud would never take. I'm not really into the adventure stuff, but I get a kick out of the "how to make fire in the woods with these rocks and that bark" stuff so I prefer Survivorman.

You can take risks when you have a crew with you. I like Survivorman's laid back style to survival far more.

Bear Grylls doesn't always have a crew - he didn't in at least the first two episodes.

And his excitement is the reason his show is better. I don't care about watching people eat weird animals and fruits and leaves - if I want to see that I'd just visit my uncles and aunts in Bosnia. What I care about is the unbridled joy that shows on Bear's face when he smacks a rabbit on the head with a stick.

i think their differences make them both good. survivorman is more business like and serious, whereas man vs wild adds extreme scenarios that one could find themselves in, but would be too dangerous to try without a crew (ie. jumping in a frozen lake).

i watch them both, Les needs to make some new ones, its all reruns for him, I have also noticed that discovery science channel his shows are an hour, on the regular discovery channel his shows are usually 30 minutes, same episode just cut down.
Bear is a little over the edge, I am sure most people would not try the things he does if they were in that situation
