Cry Me a River by Peppermint Patty Vieira and Arsene Whinger:

Arsenal have challenged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to "show what kind of person he is" by publicly declaring whether he believes Sol Campbell deliberately elbowed him at Highbury.

Patrick Vieira insisted Solskjaer's reaction to the incident, as well as subsequently keeping quiet, had damaged Arsenal's respect for Manchester United and harmed the image of the game.

The Arsenal skipper claimed: "If he doesn't say anything, that will show the kind of person he is. "But as he's a Manchester United player, I wouldn't expect him to do anything." http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/boohoo.gif

Vieira added: "Fair play is something that English people are proud of. Something like this can damage the image of fair play.

Wenger has also appealed to the Norwegian's sense of fair play and professionalism ahead of Saturday's game at Middlesbrough. He said: "I'm disappointed by Solskjaer's attitude because nobody has heard from him. If he really thinks Sol hit him in the face on purpose, I want him to come out and say that Sol should be suspended. Then I will accept it.

"If he thinks it was an accident but doesn't come out and say so, that is really disappointing as well."

What do they want Ole to come out and say? Is it Ole's responsibility to say whether Sol's elbow was deliberate? Was it Ole what showed the red card to Sol or even went to the referee assistant for an explanation? No, it was the referee's job to confer with his assistant and then make a judgement call. Watching the replay at full-speed, like the referee's see the game, I feel they made an accurate call. Why is Ole getting blamed for this whole thing?

What would have happened if the shoe was on the other foot. Let's say O'Shea had done the same thing to Henry, would Henry come out and support O'Shea? I seriously doubt it. I say let's leave it to whoever settles appeal's and not point the finger at the referee's or the player's.

This sort of thing is going on in sports, not just football. I can just see a baseball hitter appealing to a pitcher to come out and publicly say that most of their strikes were actually balls. If a pitcher was asked about questionable pitches, they would just say the umpire called them how he saw them. The same applies here.

I truly believe that Arsenal are cry-babies. If a decision goes their way, they applaud it. However, a decision goes against them and they start crying and throwing a fit like a 6-year old at Kmart who did not get that toy!

Ridiculous.

So why don't they go and ask Henry's opinion of whether his goal was offside?

Why would Solksjaer know if it were deliberate or not? All he knows is that an elbow came flying his way and just what was in Campbell's mind was irrelevant at the time :D

In my view it wasn't a deliberate elbow. Seen from the back, the linesman's view, it certainly looked deliberate and it was he who made the decision for the ref. But seen from the front, when you can better see Campbell's action and where he was looking, it's much more Campbell making sure Solksjaer didn't challenge him by throwing his arms back and preventing him getting close enough to do so.

I think the ref should retain the red card but drop the violent conduct offense - reducing Campbell's ban from 4 to 3 matches I think. Then he should revoke the offside goal and give the match 2-1 to Utd and justice will be seen to be done ;)

Yeah, Arsene. Ole will tell the FA that Campbell's elbow was not deliberate if you tell the FA that your second goal was clearly offside and that a 2-1 United victory is the deserved result.

Ray Parlour:
Arsenal stand-in skipper Ray Parlour says the Gunners are ignoring title rivals Manchester United and just concentrating on their own game.
"We won't worry about what they might or might not be doing."

No irony here.... http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/headshake.gif

Alright, from an unbiased view...

It's ridiculous for Arsenal to expect something like that from an opposing team, especially considering their track record on controversial calls.

But I also find it hilarious when ManU supporters call Arsenal "crybabies", considering past behavior of Sir Alex. :)

Arsene Wenger is the biggest hypocrite and crybaby I have ever seen among professional coaches, in any sport.

Alex Ferguson is second.

Those guys are the sports equivalent of Iraq's Information Minister. Honestly, I don't know how anybody takes them seriously. Maybe nobody does?
