From the article:
'So obviously he should expect some negative emotions when he plays against Arsenal.
'I do not understand why young players write books. I do not know why a player at 25 wants to tell me all about their big experiences.
'When I consider the age I am now, I would have a lot to tell people. But it seems to be an English habit to come out with books that nobody needs.
'I don't know if Cole should have waited before writing his book but the English mentality seems to be different to elsewhere.
'I will probably write one when I retire. But I am a bit older than these players. As I said, what is the point of writing a book at 25?'
Lehmann's opinion is backed by sales figures for the autobiography which has sold only 4,000 copies but the German keeper insists he understands Cole's reasons for leaving Ashburton Grove.

Ummm - I think the "mentality" that Jens is referring to is the tabloid-celebrity-obsessed culture - it may be worse in the UK than other parts of Europe, but it's no worse than the US.
The burning desire Mr. Tweedy has to express his worldly wisdom is the circular chase for cash and publicity. Are any of us surprised?
The saddest (most pathetic) part is, Ca$hley is such a wank, his crappy sales will probably lead him to write a sequel about how misunderstood his first work of art was. Ba$tard.

That is an absurdly low count for a book. LOL

Yeah, I think the flipbook animation I created with 5 sheets of toilet paper while on the john sold more copies.

If I were him I'd take that extra 5000 a week and buy all the copies so the sales looked better.

Most of which were purchased by newspapermen looking for something juicy to write.

Hasn't rooney already had a autobiography
wikipedia says that he has a deal for "a minimum of five books to be published over a twelve-year period." How funny is that?

That's absurd! I've read a number of times that Rooney is illiterate (ala Reyes), I doubt it's true, but it would make it more comical.

It would be much more hilarious that way. Unfortunately most of them use ghost writers. Can you just imagine the ghastly task of having to sort through all the senseless ramblings from those interviews and parlay it into some semblance of a litererary work?

I don't know if they consider coloring in a coloring book then putting your name on the front in crayon is considered to be writing a book.:p
